We stayed at Maikircher in Scheffau Austria for a week and really enjoyed it..
Rooms were squeaky clean and very warm , Breakfast was a buffet with typical austrian meats and cheese and bread  to choose from..great bus service to the gondola every 15 minutes..Not a very warm welcome on arrival as we were delayed and arrived at 11pm so the austrian woman was angry and doesnt speak any english ...but apart from that Scheffau is a very nice and quiet little town perfect for couples or families..If nightlife is what you are after then hit to Soll which is next town over..

Just returned from a week in the Maikircher. It seemed to be in 3 different buildings, so I can only speak for the main building. The lady who runs the Pension speaks absolutely no English, this can make finding things out a bit difficult, but not impossible as a lot of the guests are English and the staff speak a little English. She can come across as very angry and rude, but this is just her being a little abrupt and busy. She will speak at you regardless and so some smiling and nodding may be required!! We didn't really see her too much so we didn't feel too uncomfortable. Asides from this, breakfast was okay, a good selection of typical Austrian breakfast - bread with jams, cereal, cold meets, cheese, coffee and juice. The rooms are very standard but nicely kept, comfortable and cosy. The resort is very quiet and family orientated, and on a HB basis - there are a fair few places to eat. I would have to say the Maikircher restaurant is one of them. The food was fantastic - they also speak good English and have English menus if you aren't brushed up on your German. The good thing about this resort as well -  is that if you get a local bus timetable, the option is there to go to Ellmau or Soll for dinner / drinks and the Pension was quite flexible with coming and going at varying hours. There are a few bars right next door to the Pension which have a good selection also. All in all I would say this was a very basic accommodation, but served our needs as somewhere to have breakfast and then pop out to get the ski bus, which picks up at the only bus stop in town about 3 minutes walk, and then have a quiet and warm room to come back to.
