Hostal Alvanos 

This hostel is situated right in the center of the historic old town of Cuenca. The wifi works great, the showers are hot, the rooms are clean, and you can't beat the price for a private room- believe me, we tried. Edgar and his family own and run the hostel. We were very lucky to end up here. We arrived in Cuenca at 6AM with no place to stay. We asked the taxi to take us to an area with hostels in the center of town, and he couldn't have dropped us off in a better place. Edgar let us right in and took us to our room. We were expecting a charge since we got in 8 hours before the posted check in time, but there was no charge. Also, our bus to Mancora, Peru did not leave until 10pm on our check out day. Edgar let us store our backpacks andhang out all day using the electricity, wifi, bathrooms, and drinking water at no additional charge. If you are looking for a wild party hostel, then this is not the place. If you are looking for a quiet, cheap hostel with great facilities and in the perfect location, then look no further!!!
