From Hanoi, I went to Sapa by the Queen Cafe open bus then I had 2 nights at this hostel. 
I heard that they changed the owner so it seemed like the service has gradually been upgraded. The price is acceptable and the staff here is friendly. Everything is okay for me.

Good exprerience

Don't rent motorbikes here!!!! 640968861 Not at all renting motorbikes here! And 1 star is too much! We didn't get my son's ID card back because we allegedly damaged the flashlight. I denied and then I was told he didn't have insurance and I had to pay 100k extra. After a short discussion, he got incredible and rude and yelled at us and I said he should get the ID card and I would give him the 100k. No, because I would have been so shameless, I would have to pay 200k now.

Don't rent motorcycles here!!!!

We booked a room and when we got to the hostel they told us there were no rooms, they told us to stay in the hostel next door for 250,000, we decided yes and without knowing it was the best option.

Hostel is unreliable

The room itself is okay however there is only one terrible bathroom/toilet & everyone use them including the staff & people from outside... 
The dorm is on the ground floor and has a very thin door... You can hear the loud music & TV in the lobby, staff staying up late and loudly talking + the noise from the road. Staff was sleeping in the dorm, pretty odd.
The guy that offered us to stay there was only kind to check us in, then was more interested by playing games on his phone than paying attention to us when we needed information.
Don't do like us, spend your money elsewhere !


Avoid at possible 

When our bus arrived at 8 pm, we walked to Lucky Hostel to check in. The person at the receptionist desk was rude and told us to put our bags down and sit with no explanation. We thought it was a miscommunication after talking to others waiting for a bus, so we tried asking again to check in and the person told us we would not be able to until 9 30 pm when the manager had arrived. We left and went to a hostel down the street as we did not want to wait an hour and a half at night.

Awful check-in experience (or lack of)

WARNING: owner is a racist (he claims to hate "those f*ing white people"), very agressive and has no clue on how to run a business. Check other horrible experiences tripadvisor and facebook and DO NOT BOOK HERE! 4 hours after check-in, he wanted to take a photo of my passport on his private phone, which I usually allow in Asia, but as it really did not feel right, I declined and tried to offer alternative solutions. He refused to listen, went full racist on me, screamed at me to leave the hostel which I really wanted at that point, after which he threw my open backpack off the stairs and he run towards me aggressively (luckily I am much taller so I could push him back to avoid him hitting me). I ended grabbing (hopefully all) my belongings and running outside in my pyjamas. 

Not safe

Super comfy beds - really cosy and warm ! Staff are really nice and happy :) free breakfast and coffee was on point and in a great location.
Ignore these negative reviews - I highly recommend this place


Favorite hostel in Vietnam :)

The customer service at this flea pit is disgusting. The guy at reception was more interested in playing computer games than looking us in the eye when trying to have a conversation. Strongly recommend to avoid. 

1 star is generous 

We arrived at 4am and there were two people sleeping on the reception floor, one of them the owner! For 4 euros per person in a private room, we slept. Colchón very hard!! In the morning insects in the shower and bad smell, plus noises due to breakfast.

For those who are interested!!

Since we got off the bus, the owner approached us and offered to stay and sleep there for a very good price, but we already had plans to go to the communities. So everything was shared with us on the internet and he invited us to wait in the lobby for the day to be done because it was raining. Then he sold us tickets at a better price than at the terminal to go to Halong Bay and explained to us how to move and where to go in Sapa.
