Maalaea Kai Resort Condominium

If you want to see whales, in season, right off your lanai, this is the condo complex you want! Be sure to bring your binoculars! We stayed on the second floor and watched whale mothers and calves play, blow, and breach for hours a day! Green sea turtles feed off the rocks right by the sea wall! The complex has lounge chairs on the lawn that you can pull into the shade and watch the ocean from there as well. It is a short walk to boat tours that leave from Maalaea harbor, where there also are some restaurants and shops. You will need to drive to the end of the road to get to easy ocean access, but it is just a couple minute drive. We were very happy with our stay here, we saw more whales than we could have imagined! Unfortunately we booked a condo without air conditioning, we were told there were always trade winds to keep things cool. The week we rented, there was no wind, so the condo got very uncomfortable. We could not enjoy the view, because we had to pull the curtains to keep the sun from making things hotter. When we did some activities and came home hot, the condo was warm too. We would suggest making sure the unit you rent has air, just in case the breezes aren't blowing when you stay too. And if you go during whale season, do not forget those binoculars!
