Birch Knoll is conveniently located on the main road in Laconia. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room. The entire place inside and out looks like it has been recently renovated. The room was absolutely spotless. Everything in there was fairly new or at least refurbished. The paint the TV. The AC system. The carpeting the bathroom fixtures. All looked fairly now. The sink looked like it had some mirrors on it, but it was in perfect running shape. the beds were new and very comfortable. The Wi-Fi in the establishment worked beautifully.   The owners were very friendly and very helpful at checkout. They also had a very nice rack room if you wanted to use that, and very stunning view of the lake, from the balconies, and a beautiful pool that was very clean and well-kept, although it looks like possibly the filtration system might’ve been down one of the days we were there. Across the street they have access to the lake on a couple of docks, so the access is fairly narrow, but if you want to go, Wade your feet in the lake, you can do so.   They don’t have complementary breakfast, probably because their lobby area is very small. This motel was built in another era. But they did have free coffee in the morning. The two things anyone who books here might want to be aware of, the whole motel is on a hill, and there’s some considerable climbing to get from one space to the next. Also, if you have trouble with stairs, that could be an issue. The one thing they did not update when they renovated was the door knobs on the rooms, it’s still very old world with locks and keys. That didn’t bother me in the least, but it might be a concern for some.  For what we needed this motel for, I give it five stars. It’s close to all the attractions, so getting in and out of the parking lot, I need to exercise caution because of the street, which is of no-fault to the establishment. I recommend this place very highly. 

Great Experience 

I stayed at the Birch Knoll Motel at the end of September 2022. No surprises the room was a fair price and matched the description advertised online. The room was nice and clean. The owners were great! I would definitely stay here again.

Fall Fun in Laconia

My wife and I booked a late week getaway for a few days not having stayed at the property before. The photos looked great and other reviews sounded positive, but you never really know until you get there and experience it. Well, add this review to the already long list of positive feedback. The Birch Knoll is a great place to kick back and relax while not being far from many fine restaurants. We were not there to take in a show, although we may the next time we are there, but instead took full advantage of the laid back relaxing atmosphere that the motel provides. The pool, private beach directly across the street, new dock area where you can sit out and watch various marine craft, all contribute to making your stay a relaxing one. And lets not forget the owners. Some of the nicest, most accommodating people you will ever meet. we will definitely be returning in the near future.

A Pleasant Surprise

We booked this last minute after a long stressful week. We were greeted by the friendly owners and treated like true guests. The room was very clean and the property was really fun. The upper deck was a perfect place to relax. We walked across the street to find a beach and new deck. We sat on the end and enjoyed the beautiful lake. I have not had such a relaxing spontaneous trip in years! Thank you so much!

A wonderful getaway

Had a great weekend here in October.   The owners are super nice!   It was great knowing they live on site and take care of the property.   It was quiet.  Our room was SO clean and the beds were comfortable.   Great getaway spot right across the street from the lake.   I'd stay again - would like to stay in the Summer  and relax in the pool!

NICE!

This place is a hidden gem!!!!   I felt lucky we had chosen this one as soon as we arrived.   The couple who own it and live on site are SO NICE.   They were quick to give suggestions for food and what to do in the area and were just so welcoming.   We stayed for the weekend while attending a show at a new venue in Laconia (The Cake) as well as fireworks so we didn't get much time to hang out a the motel.   Next time.  Our room was spacious and can I say IMMACULATE.  Plenty of towels, hot water, shower had good pressure and the beds were comfy.  There is morning coffee from 7-10A, which was really tasty.   Plenty of room to sit out on the big deck near the game room or take a stroll across the street to the lake. What more could you want?  We stayed in the building in the back, first floor.   So cozy.   Definitely returning!

Perfect Weekend Getaway Spot!

The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated. Our hosts were so very friendly and accommodating. We loved the rooftop deck, the pool, and best of all the little beach and dock steps away from our room. We had a perfect day sitting on the shore near the hotel's private dock watching boats and catching waves. The hotel is a short distance to Weirs beach and plenty of excellent food and entertainment options. We prefer to stay at Mom and Pop hotels for the homey feel and were not disappointed. Thank you very much for a lovely vacation.

Perfect place to enjoy the lake

Liked · Very friendly and helpful owners/staff. Exceptionally clean rooms. Found the beds to be very comfortable - had two great nights sleep. Extremely convenient location to Weirs Beach, Bank of NH Pavillon, and all that Lake Winnipesaukee offers. The direct access to Birch Knoll Motel's private docks and beach were a great bonus which we enjoyed. Hoped to enjoy their pool and rec center but we ran out of time. I guess we'll just have to come back!

Disliked · We greatly enjoyed our stay! Just want to let others know that the extremely convenient location of this motel means that it is located on a fairly busy road (Route 3). The traffic noise (including very loud revving motorcycles and downshifting truck engines) never disrupted our sleep (we had our AC on during our entire stay), but it did make our time utilizing the property's docks and beach not as relaxing as we had hoped. A very minor blip and certainly not a criticism of this motel, just an observation.

Clean, Convenient and Comfortable!

Room was great for what I needed. Lots of room (I had a King room), TV and fridge. I liked that they had organic shampoo/soap provided. Nice Pool area, rec center and deck for sitting. Dock across the road. It was far enough outside the busy area but close enough to get there and to many other activities. It was safe and clean.

Great hotel, location and hosts.

Very nice motel, right across the street from the lake. Room on the second floor was recently updated, spacious, clean and great view of the lake. The whole motel looks like it’s been recently updated, the owners were so nice and friendly, always available and on site. 
There’s a nice outdoor pool with great views of the lake , and plenty of seating. There’s also a dock across the street that is part of the motel, with chairs for sitting and taking in views of the beautiful lake. 
Short drive to weirs beach and the boardwalk. Great motel, and  very reasonably priced compared to other places in Laconia. Will definitely stay again!
