This hotel is a short walk up a steep hill away from the main drag of Bowness. This also means that many rooms and the terrace bar have great views over lake Windermere and the Langdale Pikes prominent on the sky line. Excellent showers with copious hot water and an extensive buffet breakfast with high quality sausages bacon and black pudding. All ideal for serious walkers interested in mainly the SE fells. Short walk to many restaurants, pubs, boat trips etc if you are more touristic. Don’t overlook the cocktail menu which is not as cheap as in town but they are properly made compared with the fruit puree + cheap vodka on offer down by the lakeshore. Parking isn’t cheap but in a town choked by tourists and competition for municipal parking frankly who cares if you can avoid all that hassle. The staff are extremely courteous and made a good stay really good.
