First time visiting  after seeing on facebook food was lovely lots of  choice and staff very friendly definately be back had curry fishandchips  starters fillet steak and drinks price was good to wanted a dessert but couldnt of ate it  if you havnt been give it ago

The punch bowl is a beautiful pub, very warm, welcoming and rustic. A proper traditional pub with a modern twist. The food, drinks and service were exceptional, we had hot beef sandwiches. The roast potatoes were awesome and the meat was so tender, melted in the mouth. 
The pub is super close to South Causey Inn and Beamish Hall so a great place to stay for wedding guests. 
We’ll definitely be back soon.

the village and stanley are so lucky to have such a great pub that sells good old pub grub, the Sunday lunch is amazing along with a great choice of wines,spirits and lagers ,fantastic friendly staff and welcoming locals
They have bands, djs and show football, a pool table dartboard, lovely outdoor garden ,dog friendly

Went with family for Tea , what can I say absolutely delicious homemade food . Lovely atmosphere and fab service . 
Lovely clean pub with quirky decor, staff are friendly and professional and nothing is too much bother for them. Will definitely be back.

Me and my friends went for lunch yesterday and it was beautiful, best pub food I’ve had in a very long time, Will 100% be back, we had the salt and chilli chicken starters with halloumi fries, sweet potato fries, and the steak loaded peppercorn sauce couldn’t fault anything 10/10 and it serves woodpecker cider my favourite 😂

as the title says "Fabulous food and accommodation" we stayed there for four nights, we had two breakfasts and three evening meals all excellent. The rooms were clean and modern, and the staff were attentive, this was a great central place to stay for County Durham and Newcastle, All in all would highly recommend.

The Punch Bowl is in an excellent location for those looking for a base from which to visit the myriad attractions in this area.
The rooms are very good. The staff are very friendly. The food is outstanding. All  in all, an excellent place to stay.

I was absolutely blown away by the Punch Bowl. My reasons for this could go on but in summary; Their range of drinks is outstanding. The gins and cocktails are second to none and the prices are unbeatable. The food is incredible. I had the homemade soup and the prawn gamberoni and it was outstanding. The food was fresh and the best I’ve had in a long time. The staff were incredible and ever so friendly. My father always said “you can always judge a place by its toilets” and the toilets had free sanitary products for women.  I was absolutely amazed and it was not what I was expecting at all. Couldn’t be happier; great food, great staff and amazing prices! Will absolutely be back. Thank you!

Went away for a few days for my birthday and we stayed at the Punch  Bowl, room was functional had all we needed and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast menu was good with plenty of choice and food was excellent. We also had an evening meal there one night again good variety on the menu and food was excellent.

Great food, great service, great location

Fabulous local pub

Best in stanley

Lovely little pub with really friendly staff and good selection of drinks. The room we stayed in with comfortable and very clean although on the small side. It was en suite and had a separate toilet and shower, and the sink was in the room. Was a bit noisy in the late evening from music in the main pub and also early on the Sunday morning ( the football team meet at the front of the pub from 8 and like a chat) all the all a nice little place to stay if wanting to see attractions in the surrounding area. Only down side was the restaurant being closed as we had booked 4-5 months ago and were only informed it had closed 4 days before we travelled which by that time was too late to find alternative accommodation.

Birthday break 

We honestly were a bit apprehensive when we first arrived but needn't have been.  We received a very warm welcome from the staff who went out of their way to make us welcome.  The room may have been small but it  was very clean and well insulated from the noise of the busy road outside.  The only negative was that it was slightly dark for reading.  The manageress made room for us to eat the first evening in the bright dining area.  There was an extensive choice of dishes including an excellent choice of gluten free.  The night we arrived there was live music which made for a real fun night. A full breakfast is available on request.  An excellent place to stay within easy reach of Durham and really close to Beamish.

A VERY WARM WELCOME

Stayed for 2 nights on way back from Scotland and was very pleased with the standard of the room for the price. 
The staff are helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant is very good and extremely large portions. 
Although breakfast is an extra cost it’s fantastic value and we couldn’t manage the standard full English  breakfast it’s massive.
We visited Beamish museum which is only 10 minutes away and Durham not far either 
The pub can get very busy so can be noisy but we don’t mind that at all but maybe not for people who want a quiet night in 
I would advise you to book a table for dinner as it’s very popular especially at weekends

This pub has a large family bedroom that contains a larger than average king size bed, a full size single bed and bunk beds. Decent sized shower room ensuite (no bath). Tea, coffee and biscuits all provided in the room plus a large screen TV. Free parking on site. The bar offers a good choice of drinks and the food is excellent with good sized portions and choice of menu. The staff were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble.  
Only a 10 minute drive to Beamish Museum so avoided traffic queues. 
We highly recommend this B&B to anyone.
