Oban

Fabulous hotel, right on the lake but a little too far away from Oban.  Staff were so obliging. Beautiful rooms which are huge. A little bit cold as couldn’t get radiator to work yet there was a plug in one which we fight use! Hot water system noisy but it’s an old hotel. So quaint and comfortable. Lovely lounge for pre and after dinner drinks. A la carts menu for dinner & drinks so a little pricy but a treat. Didn’t stay for breakfast.  No fridges in room. On going work in garden & drive and also in hotel.

Visit to Oban

Knipoch Hotel is in a perfect location, what seems like only a stones throw from Oban.  The furnishings and decorations have been completed to a Royal standard.  The lounge has a calm feeling, the ideal spot to relax and read or chat about the days adventures with a cup of tea or one of the many Whiskey choices available.  The rooms don't disappoint with the attention to detail to all luxuries, including my favourite; heated floor in the bathroom!  The idyllic views of the hills and the loch are quite magical.  The magnificent staff; Andreas, Stephanie, Sophie, Adrian and "The Chef", adding that special ingredient to make you feel nothing was too much trouble.  Now to the food!  Being Vegan and having food allergies and intolerances, I can make it very difficult for some places, but "The Chef" was incredible and the staff making me feel it was not a problem at all.  The food was divine - the taste, the texture and the combination of taste explosions were just tremendous!  It is a must for those looking for something with a little more, finesse and, well, what can I say, just a little more than other high end places can offer!

A wonderful place with that extra finesse and attention to detail to make your stay truly magnificent!

Comfortable and cosy hotel in the countryside. Friendly and helpfull staff. We very much enjoyed our stay. The food was delicious and there where some suprising wines at the menu of the restaurant. 



Gem in the countryside

We could only stay for the 1 night but would have loved to stay longer. The best nights sleep with comfy beds and a delicious breakfast in the morning. Veggie option had the best sausages too!!

A lovely hotel with traditional decor, comfy beds & great breakfasts

The Hotel is situated 6miles from Oban and overlooks Knipoch Loch, a nice looking building and excellent reception and lounge areas. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and willing to help at all times. The bedroom was well furnished, though the chairs are on the neat side . The beds and bed linen were superb. The ensuite was on the small side and was supposed to have a heated floor but the setting was too low to be effective. The W.C was tight to the wall and larger people might feel cramped. Towels and towelling robes were again excellent. The decor was good, though there were unfinished areas which let the room down ( hole in the ceiling where a previous fixing had been, no light in the entrance so couldn't see the hanging rail or case stand unless you opened the bathroom door -missing bulb? Food wise, the breakfast was adequate but not as good as other 4 star hotels we have stayed in and also the evening menu was fairly pricey for average fare. Nothing was than pricey food where even the extras ( which I would normally consider as part of the dish ) were overpriced making the menu rather too expensive for what was on offer . Drinks menu again was pricey - I would suggest that lowering the prices would encourage guests to eat at the hotel and bring in outside diners.

Nice situation and welcoming facilities.

A wonderful hotel in an excellent location. We were received with exceptional kindness and extreme attention, in an emergency situation, when, due to the rainy weather in Oban and the surrounding areas, there was nothing left. We had a very nice room and had a fantastic meal. Thanks to the weather emergency situation, we were able to get to know this wonderful hotel with its particularly attentive staff. Thank you again a thousand times!

That's great!

The rooms are large and clean, but with an interior that does not match the spirit of the times...necessary for renovation! There is a coffee machine in the room, but it was carefully wrapped in plastic and thus conveys a clear message: Please don't need, otherwise we will have to clean the machine. The kindness of the staff was limited. You can have dinner at the hotel, but the menu prompted us to immediately get back into the car and drive to the 12km away Oban and eat in one of the many and fine fish restaurants.

Nice view, but...

On a Saturday at 3pm my wife and I stopped in for a drink we were told that they do not serve non residents and when asked about local places we were told to go to Oban 10 plus miles away.we hear so much of hotels struggling during covid no one else was in hotel and car park was empty. So much for Scottish hospaitality

Do not warrant 4 stars

Having visited and stayed on Liung Island several times I have passed this large hotel several times - it is in a first class location with good access to Oban and the Islands. My room was large and at the front. There were some noise issues - but this was mostly down to unthinking neighbours who clearly watched TV 24/7!! The staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were to a high standard. Other food was not available as in-house dining had been suspended because of CV19 staff shortages. It is a far preferable location than central Oban

We had a very comfortable stay. Food excellent. Room and view good too. Stephanie was so pleasant & helpful as she served breakfast. I would recommend this hotel.
