We decided to stop here while visiting family in the area after other members of the family had stayed on a Sunday night.  The price including breakfast was competitive in comparison to the chain hotel we normally use in Romford.  The room was functional with a nice bathroom although there were a few minor issues; the catch on the window was broken so it couldn’t be closed securely, the sprung plug in the sink wouldn’t stay closed and the lighting by the mirror was poor making it difficult to do hair and makeup.  After booking we received a message informing us of the activities that are on throughout the week and found that there was a disco on the Saturday.  When we arrived, we then found that it started at 8pm and when we returned to the pub after going out for dinner, it had recently started for the evening.  We decided not to stay in the bar area and went to our room, where we were disappointed to find we could hear the 80s and 90s selection of music and accompanying singing from the patrons until gone 11:30pm, either the music was exceptionally loud and/or the rooms are not particularly sound proof (note that there is a live band on there on a Friday night so expect that to be just as loud).  The breakfast was sizable; however, the fried eggs were overdone and the vegetarian sausages could have been a far better quality.  There is limited parking on sight which is ANPR monitored, so you have to register your vehicle in the bar when you first arrive.  All the staff were friendly and helpful whenever we spoke to them.  It is unlikely that we would stop there again on either a Friday or Saturday in the future

A Noisy Saturday Night

Went into bar , put my reg number in machine . Got a drink 
Waited for my friends to arrive . Ordered Food . A very angry woman came over and said No Dogs 🐶 Allowed in here . What I had been in the bar for 40 Minutes . She was aggressive and extremely rude . I could afford to buy the place and SACK HER . Lesson learnt here Extremely Rude Staff here’s a NON RETURNING CUSTOMER without my little dog  
Awful Experience  . No Signs Anywhere to say Dogs Not Allowed

A VERY RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE LADY

Couldn't fault anything.        Room had everything I needed.         Bed was very comfortable.    
     Breakfast was phenomenal - just couldn't eat it all.                 I have family in the area, so will certainly stay again.   This was my second stay, so would certainly recommend.  Tube station only a couple of minutes walk.

Very clean and comfortable and superb breakfast

Comfy room and bed, very clean.  Rooms a little dated as are the communal areas to the bedrooms.  Staff all very nice and helpful, good breakfast , dinner typical pub food. On whole nice stay very convenient to railway station and buses and would stay here again when in the area

Good hotel

I rate it a 3 as the rooms were dated. The area going up to room was dates, shabby and dirty. The shower was basic to be honest. When we were taken to rooms, ours smelled of bad eggs. We had to open windows. The room was so so hot . No air and dark and dingy.. No lighting to see yourself atall.

Xmas party stay

The rooms are comfortaable and hed everything we needed. The staff were very helpful. The full english breakfast was very exellent and very good value. We stayed after having a buffet afte rmy mum's funeral and everything was very well done. 

Very convenient and friendy, woth great brekkie

We stayed last Saturday 24th June  - our 1st visit ever to Essex for a Family Party.
There are very few choices in this area and so the price is high at £164 per night !!
Staff here are great - very friendly , very attentive and a great Pub used by many locals and Families . Food is good - Full breakfast is great quality and very reasonably priced.

All that said - the rooms and route to the rooms needs desperate attention. This is not the local Team at fault - Innkeepers need to invest their money from high room rates to provide a place the Team are wholly proud of .


Great Staff, Great Food, Poor Rooms !!!

Had a lovely three night stay using here as base camp for when visiting London. Free on site parking, tube station literally on the door step too. Room spot less with good basic facilities & all staff welcoming and friendly. Only down side overnight road works but clearly a one off. Had the breakfast on our final morning & for the price it was great value. Highly recommend this place..

Base camp for London break

Cosy warm & welcoming place to stay. Very good location for visiting London. 2 minutes from the tube station. 
The rooms are clean & of a good standard. All the staff are so friendly and will go above & beyond to make your stay the best possible experience.
Bar food is good and the choice of breakfasts is wide and accommodating.
I can highly recommend & would stay again if visiting London.
Car parking is free on site but remember to register your vehicle on arrival.


Warm & Friendly place to stay

The Railway is in an excellent location , beside a taxi office, tube station and a bus stop.
Its only 25 min by tube to Stratford yet only a 5 min bus journey into Hornchurch town centre.
The Railway is very clean and has great team members, especially Tony and Kyle.
