I can not fault the hospitality and straight away I was made to feel welcome. I stayed in a mixed 6 bed dorm which was absolutely perfect. The lounge and reception are great chill out spaces and the fabulous staff running the place were so friendly. Free coffee, tea, milk and whatever food has been shared is available for consumption. There are lockers (bring a padlock) and also a secure storage area for larger items. The place is clean and homely and it was a joy to stay here in Brighton.

We went as a big group of 15 students to celebrate the end of our exams and knew as soon as we walked in that we'd made the right choice! Staff were so friendly and warm, giving us a big welcome and a tour of the hostel as soon as we arrived. Rooms were pretty spacious given how many of us there were and were kept cool at night despite the heat. Everything you'd need is within walking distance and the rooms were so cheap but still really comfy. Loved the living rooms and the messages on the walls from guests were so sweet to read. Thank you for a fantastic end to our A Levels, Baggies!!!

We stayed at Baggies for three nights! The hostel was sick, such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It was probably one of the friendliest hostels I’ve stayed in. The hostel was home to some long term lodgers as well who were all really nice! Everyone had different stories to tell and it was refreshing hearing everyone’s experiences. The facilities are basic, but what you would expect from a hostel! Great location, a 2 min walk from the beach! I would definitely recommend staying here! A cute quirky hostel! 

If you come to Baggies, don't bring an onward ticket. One of the things that makes the hostel such a charming, homely place is the long termers-backpackers who, like many others, decided to stop by Brighton and chose Baggies for the good reviews, and found themselves staying for months. Lydia the manager (hey gal! :D) puts so much energy into making sure the place keeps its friendly vibe and is always full of ideas to make it even more 'Baggies'. At the same time, she's always welcoming, great to chat to and manages to keep things organised (no mean feat- it's a mad place, after all!) While English is mostly spoken, (at least while I was there), there were maybe a dozen other languages floating around the place- it's wonderfully sociable and even with the occasional language barrier, everyone is included. Finally, the kitchen. Oh, the kitchen. Of maybe three or four dozen hostels I've stayed in, Baggies has no doubt the best kitchen of any of them. Organised label system for keeping food, myriad free spices (about three shelves full!) and occasional free oil, as well as a weekly "free box" when travellers leave food behind to minimise waste. Gas oven, four large fridges and 9 (maybe more?) burners, gas and electric...I could go on. People cook for each other all the time and to my mind, that's the mark of a second home. Hope to be back later in the year :D

It’s a fun and vibrate atmosphere! Good times and great people here! Quite often there’s hostel family meals, and movie night on Sunday evenings. It’s the best hostel experience I’ve had!

Such a heartwarming stay with the Baggies family! Adorable ambiance, comfy beds, great common areas and facilities, excellent location, and most hospitable staff. All the staff made a point to get to know me, even tho I was only there for 3 nights. They showed me around the hostel, and always made sure I was having a good time, and included guests in occasional unexpected free family dinners! Hostel also has super cheap laundry facilities (2£ wash, 1£ dry), great kitchen appliances, and even a mini herb garden! The positives: location, staff, size of common areas.

The negatives: small room (I was in a 10 bed dorm) and since a bunch of the people there are long termers, there's a slight clique vibe.

All in all I liked my time here. Within walking distance of the beach, so many shops, and the main bus stop (and from what I was told, the train station too).

Great backpackers

The place to stay!

The day before arrival we were down graded from the penthouse to the groundfloor apartment. On arrival on Friday we were horrified to find one large room for us all to sleep in as the folding door which separates the room was sealed shut on the left hand side. On trying to open the partition we were mortified by the dirt and grime found around the room, the bed made us all itchy. There was no private entrance in fact we were place right by the front door which was in continuous use all hours of the night banging and having people run up and down the stairs and people shouting from the street. The apartment is not soundproof and made us all feel very unsafe as the doors rattled every time one of the many doors near the entrance opened. 
The private bathroom has blood splatted up the wall opposite which you sit to use the bathroom and we felt unsafe to use at night until checking that we couldn't hear anyone around and running backwards and forwards.
We had to put up with this as we needed to stay for our marathon runner. 
Poor organisation from people who own it and you have to chase all information from them.
We have complained to them and should have received a response in 5 days and still have heard nothing from them 2 week later.

Never Ever stay here!!! Unsafe and Unclean!!!!

We stayed here 4/10 for 2 nights and the hostel was not, even for the price, at an acceptable standard. 
On arrival I was shown to a bed in a sprawling, packed dorm with many 'long termers' giving the room a hippy commune vibe. The lady checking us in showed me to a bed with a rucksack already on it, which she nonchalantly removed, worried by this I enquired what would happen if someone has already claimed the bed? She answered dismissively that was not the case. Right. 
Fast forward to 2am, I return and tiptoe through the camp to my bed, occupied. 
Tired, a little drunk and having paid for a bed, I went downstairs and attempted to contact someone. Eventually, after perhaps 30 minutes, two people arrived and I explained the situation. Further expressing my frustration at the absolute basic that I had paid for was not fulfilled, the management had the audacuty to aggresively accused me of being angry about the situation?. Compounding my confusion at this ineptitude they then showed me to a free bed in an empty dorm. 
The next night our reception was frosty at best, somehow leaving me feel blamed that I wanted a bed. An empty bed.
