We spent one night here on the Lycian way. We had a really nice and clean apartement with seaview and three balconies! The family was very nice and tried to fulfill every single of our wishes! In the evening we got a traditional turkish dinner with a soup, starters, a main course and dessert! It was really, really good and there was plenty of it. The fish was caught by the owner himself :-) Next morning they not only provided us with a wonderful breakfast but with lunch packets.
We highly recommend this place!

I stayed 2 nights at this upmarket guest house. Warm welcome, dinner and Breakfast when it suited me, and computer access. The only small negative was wifi not working.
Lovely seaview to the west, and very quiet. Top quality beds, sheets and towels. A lovely stop on the Lycian way!

We stayed one night at Gurkans after walking several days on the Lycian Way. We had saved the best till last. The house is modern, architect designed with spacious suites. Ours had an excellent view over the bay from the floor to ceiling windows and balcony. The house is immaculately clean and the family can't do enough to ensure that you enjoy your stay. The owner was away during our stay and so we were looked after by his sister and mother. The evening meal was prepared by mother and served on the front terrace. Several wonderful home cooked vegatable dishes. Probably the best meal during our ten day stay in Turkey....certainly the most memorable. We had the impression of staying with a family rather than being in a guesthouse.
Karaoz is a smallish, pleasant, modern town on a bay. Not much of a beach but the surrounding scenery is beautiful (as it is along most of this coast). There is little to keep you here for more than a day or two but Gurkans alone makes it worthwhile making a detour during a touring holiday.

Yes the sing is still there but it is for a different house behind the hotel. But talking to the owner we find out that it is for sale as well.
The rooms design isn't great as aircon is in the sitting room which is separate from the bedrooms means no aircorn at night and it was too hot without it in end of July. 
The blinds are letting sun through and room gets too hot in the day and early evening.
Bathroom also could do with some improvement.
There only one restaurant in whole area so eating a bit of a problem if you are staying for longer than 2 days.

We had a two-nights-reservation at Gurkan's Guesthouse and when we arrived in Karaöz we saw a big "for sale" sign at the house. Although Hassan and his mother gave as a very warm welcome, we didn't feel comfortable in this almost deserted atmosphere. 
Having in mind that the house and the room were not really well-tended any more, the price of 70 Euro was quite high although the breakfast was very rich and well tasting.
Since there were no alternatives in Karaöz we also had dinner at Gurkan's. It was served in the garden at a nicely set-up table. The food was plenty and of really good quality including fresh fish and even a crab. Nevertheless compared to other places in the area, 20 Euro per person were more on the expensive side.
