I stayed many times at the Baren, whilst working at Alstom, and find that it is perfectly placed for anyone wanting to explore the surrounding areas of Birr, Baden, and a short walk to the local rail station at Birr.
Not many hotels in the local area compare to the Baren. Great Restaurant too.

Great service, brilliant staff

I'm sorry, but I can't. Not at this price. The room is big and the beds are clean and the internet is free. But that's pretty much all that's positive. Carpet is dirty. TV is not usable. Nowadays in a hotel you can't get a usable transmitter.

It's not worth the money.

I stayed 3 nights and had a very small single bed room, which was so small it didn't had a bathroom, but all facilities in the room itself. I only slept in the room, so this was totally perfect for its purpose, but surprised me because the room costs 120 Franc per night. Don't forget to lock your room when you're going to take a shower, because when you don't, everyone can walk in and will stand directly in front of the shower. 

Pro's:
- Good bed, high quality sheets and perfect pillow (which is unique, at a hotel!)
- Very clean 
- Renovated room with everything 1 person needs for a short stay (my colleague had an old room, which was a bit bigger but very old fashioned)
- High speed internet for free (worked perfect, without password etc)
- Great breakfast, perfect fresh bread, fruits, cereals etc. Nothing to wish for! (the buffet doesn't have any eggs, but they'll make them fresh at your order - nothing extra is charged)

Con's:
- Wooden floors (not in your room, that's wood-looking linoleum), so you'll hear every step at the hallway. The second night a group youngsters stayed at the hotel, which was very noisy.
- I had a view at the church nearby, which is nice to see, but which bells every 15 minutes... Although it was pretty warm, I had to close the window after an hour after I went to bed, because the church bells woke me up every quarter of an hour. 
- There was a very small, very old television, wish hang so high you can't look at while lying in bed. Besides that it had a very high peep sound, so I just didn't use it at all.

I didn't eat at the hotel's restaurant, because I thought it was too expensive, so I can't review that. The parking lot was full every night, so I think it is popular, but we went out every night. I can recommend the pizzeria at the next village called Schwerz!

Small but cosy

I've had a small single room. Everything you need was there. The staff was very kind and helped to organize adapters for the power supply and bathrope for the sauna. The Sauna was heated on request. The Breakfast was fresh and nothing but an egg was missing.
Some rooms were already refurbished to reach a very modern standard.
Unfortunately you can hear the other guests walking through their rooms and along the stairs, but this is something caused by the age of the house.
The restaurant offers a wide range of meals. 
The bar is very comfortable and the thanks to the barkeeper you won't get borred.
