STF Tofta Gård Orust

I loved my stay at Tofta Gård! I had arranged for my family and friends to spend a weekend together in July at this simple yet amazing hostel/inn. You can use Tofta Gård as a true self-catered hostel or do what we did, and book a fully catered weekend with meals and housekeeping included in our group booking. The "farm" has a main building which hosts the reception and restaurant ( *this year they did not run a summer restaurant. It only caters to prearranged bookings) and 9 guest rooms. We had 16 people staying the first night and we were served a generous American styled BBQ buffet dinner. ( pulled pork, burgers, ribs, with lots of side dishes) Our second day started out with a tasty Swedish style breakfast (smorgasbord style) and ended with a festive three course gourmet dinner (grilled scampi, beef tenderloin, créme brûlée) served in the built-in Scandinavian style terrace overlooking the large grassy field and glimpses of the North Sea peaking through the cliffs in the distance. The restaurant fit the 30 guests with ease and the table service was great. Our group occupied all the rooms in the main building as well as a few more in the other buildings. All rooms are good sized, simple and clean (mostly single beds). You share a bathroom with 2-3 other rooms ( the bathrooms and showers are tiny... I expected that since it is a historical building). Each of the three buildings has large and well stocked kitchens and multiple fridges for the hostel guests to use. After our dinner we walked up to the attic which is a large rustic common room where we could continue our party well into the night. You can't bring your own booze but there's a cash bar stocked with beer, wine and cider $$$. (Easily charged to your room) The owners Mia and Hans made our whole Tofta experience worth every dollar and they went out of their way to help me with organizing the weekend even though I live in Toronto, Canada and my guests live all over Sweden and Norway. We easily communicated through emails and they were helpful with all my questions and challenges.
