Perfect place to stay in ohiya.
Iam from qatar but every time I visit Sri Lanka I must visit ohiya. Specially mist mount. The location is perfectly matched. Between mountains. It’s really give us a nice mood 

We were doing 2-days trekking from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, and this lodge was our stop for our night stay. The walk through the village, meeting the locals, and having their little kids say hello to us, got us all excited, and we felt right at home.

The place is very secluded, has its stairs, and is surrounded by greenery and flowers, and everything about it is gorgeous! 

We were met by the 2 housekeepers, whose job is to make you feel comfortable. They served us black tea with ginger, and it was super refreshing.

Lucky for us, we were the only ones staying, so we got to choose which room we wanted. They have plenty of rooms, and each one has at least 4 beds. They were basic but spotless, with very clean bathrooms. For a hiker, it's better than what you get elsewhere. They also provided us with soaps and clean towels. The rooms also have hangers to dry your clothes. 

They don't have any Wi-Fi, and the local network doesn't work. This wasn't a problem for us, as we enjoyed being disconnected and having real conversations while sitting outside and embracing nature. 

The cook asked us what time we preferred to have dinner, and we had it prepared and ready on time. Everything was homemade authentic Sri Lankan food, with some of the vegetables picked up from the garden! They also sell the local beer & bottles of water.

We experienced a power cut while having dinner, but they had emergency lights on, so we didn't end up eating in the dark. 

It was cold at night, but we didn't face any difficulty sleeping, as we were exhausted after the trek and needed to energize for the following day's hike. You can use more than a blanket if you still feel cold, with was sufficient for us.

Breakfast was also homecooked, simple, yet so yummy! 

The place is outdated, though, and needs an upgrade, especially the living room, but I would still highly recommend it. It's a great place to be disconnected from the world and experience a place in Sri Lanka that not many people get to see. 

Overall, an extraordinary experience and a very memorable one that we will carry with us for years. 

P.S. the kids are super friendly, but since most have to walk for hours to get to their schools, it helps to bring some stationaries with you and hand them over as they love them. Pens are especially famous!

Stayed at the lodge for 2 days while trekking, real cozy place with 4 beds per room, simple home stay with great people along with amazing food. Owners were always helpful, was a great overall experience.

This lodge was a welcome retreat after a days hiking thru the tea plantations. Siva and Raj were great guides on the hike and hosts at the Lodge, together with the couple who cooked. Rooms were dormitory style, each with bathroom facilities. Accomodation was clean and basic and comfortable. 
Gorgeous views and sunset


Misty mountain lodge is a lush tranquil place with amazing views of the lowveld. Their rooms are nice and spacious with fireplaces for those cold nights. The restaurant has great food and impressive service. Very friendly and helpfull staff.

Mesmerizing Experience

Fun in the mountains

Nice and cosy...

We were served very warmly and kindly by the lady chef who gave us ginger tea on arrival. We read that the owner is very informative but as the place has changed hands since, we didn't get any hiking recommendations at all. However, the views and area around is insanely gorgeous, bring plenty of warm clothes though as the thin blankets won't keep you warm. We suffered a lack of sleep though as locals and even the owner partakes in late night drinking sessions which are loud enough to echo through all rooms.

We trekked for two days thru the tea plantations and we spent a night with my group at the lodge. The staff was really nice and friendly, the rooms were army style, just beds without nightstands or anything else to put your stuff on. We arrived around noon and left the next morning. We were wiped out from the 4 hours hike but we still hoped we can explore the village or have some activities in the afternoon. Take note, there is nothing to do there. The winds picked up around 4 and you couldn't even walk outside, good thing I had my ear plugs otherwise the hauling noise would have kept me up the whole night.

I was disappointed the lodge was not owed by a local family but by a business man who lives in a different town, we expected more like a home stay which is not. You don't come in touch with the locals, though they don't mind taking pcts of them…..

Decent hostel while trekking thru the tea plantations….

Having walked into the location, we were grateful for the shed and cup of tea.  Communal rooms, and in my room there were five beds....fortunately there was only three of us to share.  Any more would have been uncomfortable.  A simple bed and thin blanket.  No self or hook for your personal overnight gear.  All of us ere cold during the night, so an extra blanket is a good idea.
The tea and coffee and a bit weak, but in fairness quite plentiful. Food is OK.
If the clouds lift there are stunning views.
Beer is a tad expensive, but it really is a captive market!
