23 reviewsGuest house stay, a real local experience. I originally reserved a room for 4 days. Within the first few days I found this location so relaxing and the family so nice that I extended my stay to 11 days. If you enjoy home stays or have wanted to try one I suggest you book a night here. This guest house is located in the town of Pelana which borders the town of Weligama. It is nestled is a group of homes that sit between S. Matara Road and Weligama Beach. Weligama Beach is known for being a prime location for beginners to learn how to surf. Local fishermen also work from a section of this beach. Everyday I was able to leave the house and reach the beach in a minute. Within a 5 minute walk on the beach I had a choice to take a surf lesson, relax at a beach side hotel cafe or layout on the beach. Why choose? Do all three. The guest house is run by Deenu and her parents Abey & Dia. Deenu is a fantastic cook and I opted for her breakfast and dinners. Abey maintains a beautiful garden and can schedule tours for you and take care of your laundry. If she has available time Dia maybe be able to take care of your sewing repairs. If you would like to do your own thing that is fine too. Before you leave I recommend you ask their opinion on your travel arrangements for the next leg of your trip. A friend who joined me for a few days didn't get their advise and missed her flight. On the flip side, I asked for their assistance to book a tuk tuk to Galle to catch the highway bus to Colombo airport ( known locally as Negombo) and Abey road with me to make sure I found the right bus.
