The hotel is ok Wi-Fi only reasonable Good bed and good bathroom Very clean The best are the excursions to Yala National Park that the owner organizes in his own jeep The breakfast is good Excellent attention

A very good option for a low budget.

We had such a lovely experience here, and we were treated incredibly well. The food was amazing and we were all welcome to seconds. The safari was really interesting and was amazing to see a leopard ! Hopefully see you again soon.

Amazing !

It was just fantastic! We didn't arrive until late in the evening and the host's wife cooked us very delicious noodles. The next day's lunch was also very delicious. The rooms were very clean and there was even warm water, which is not natural in Sri Lanka. We booked the safari in Yala National Park directly from our host and the safari was just crazy. The host drives away from all the other jeeps and so we were lucky enough to even see a leopard nearby. Absolute recommendation! The only thing missing is the bad wlan.

My favourite safari!

We stayed one night in this guest house which is really very well located, clean and comfortable with an excellent quality price ratio. The guest and his wife have a lot of humor, we had a nice time with them. The guest offers the safari, we were lucky to even have a leopard and an elephant free. A nice address on Tissamaharama, a nice meeting! Just look at the other comments;-)

This place is great if you come here for a safari in Yala. The house is very clean, breakfast and dinner is good and the family that runs it is always very attentive to the needs of the guests. They recommend it to all travelers!

Great for relaxing and safari

This is the cleanest accommodation we have stayed at in Sri Lanka. The family own and run their own safari trips as well. Great service, exceptionally friendly. We had the best tour of Yala National Park and saw so much wildlife. We were not disappointed. 
We definitely recommend this home stay and to book your Safari with them.

Family owned B&B with safari

We found this booking through good reviews online. Our hoast Janaka does also do Safari trips in Yala and area and is very professional, rooms were good and clean and nice breakfest, warm wlcome from Janaka and his family. Highly recommend.

The Safari was more than we expected, we saw hundreds of wild animals such as Slothbear, many Elephants, leopard and crocodiles and more. Thank you Janaka and family 

Rooms and safari

We were here for two nights, including safari. When we arrived, the room suddenly cost almost twice as much as it is on the Internet!! We were told that it would be other rooms but at our request they didn't want to show us the cheaper rooms. Here I would be very careful!! The whole day's safari was also overpriced at $160 in our opinion. We were then on safari twice, where we are very disappointed with Yala National Park. The landscape is very bushy, then if you see an animal, you're only very lucky if it's walking down the street. We were lucky to see a leopard the second day, but in no time more than 10 other jeep arrived.

Extensible

Stayed here one night before a Yala safari so was only in the place for 6hrs but it was clean, wifi, fan, AC, everything worked. 

They offer safaris to Yala themselves, but the wife didn't have any info or prices when we arrived so we had no choice but to book elsewhere without any info from them (we arrived in the early evening). Could do with at least an info board with prices for when people arrive and he isn't there. 



Decent stopover for Yala

Tissa was a bit of a weird one for us. The town itself was really quiet as it was November and the season only really gets going in December. We were the only people staying at Shine Park so it felt a bit strange! Also I was a bit ill during my 2 days here so it puts a dampener on it.
If I was to rate Shine on the safari alone I would give it 5 stars. The man who runs Shine is a lovely fella and his Safari I definitely recommend, we hardly saw another jeep over the whole time and he doesn't just join a convoy like a lot of drivers do, plus we saw loads of animals!! 
The hotel itself I would probably rate 3.5 stars, the room had AC which was a bonus but we didn't have a mosquito net. I think we'd been spoilt with other Sri Lankan breakfasts in the past. 
Also (and I know this has no bearing on the hotel) we really struggled with the dogs in Tissa, once upon leaving the hotel to walk to town we got barked at by a group of dogs so we turned back to walk on a longer road on a dirt track and 2 other dogs chased us back! It was quite scary so from then on we just got tuk Tuks to and from the hotel everywhere.
