The rooms are comfortable but..the bathroom is open on the room and a huge bathtub occupies a large area. So the rest of the room is narrow (just the space to pass between the bed and the office, even the chair does not stand in front of the office nice!!) Lovely view of the terrace, which is rather a balcony, narrow, just to sit on. Storage in the cabinet insufficient for a few days stay.

It's a nice place.

Firstly the pictures of the suites are deceiving
The room had mould and damp.
I was moved to another room which was a downgrade and the room stinks. The electrical system is a hazard to kids.
The furniture was old and damaged and smelled of urine. They say it's been renovated but an absolute joke.
4 star hotel my foot.
The hotel is an absolute waste.i asked for my refund and left. Will never put my family threw that sort of place again.i have stayed in the villas and they are an absolute dream.
After leaving I received and email from them with a sad apology story and insulted me with free dinner on my next stay

San lameer hotel 

No blackout curtains (and east-facing rooms). So kids wake up when the sun rises. It's not expensive -- come on guys.

Weirdly shaped rooms. Shower and sink in the room. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but it actually is: disturbs kids' sleep, and detracts from the feeling of being on a relaxing holiday.

All this might be excusable in a budget hotel, but this is not one.

Passable as a budget hotel, but no more than that

Very beautiful well kept units placed around a top notch golf course.

Has amenities for paddle boats, tennis, squash, mountain biking, running.

Also have access to a private beach. The kiddies pool has a splash pool with slides and an adult pool. 

They also have cleaning services and golf carts that can be hired.

Only downside is you mostly need cash(ATMs are onsite) with high deposit amounts to hire any equipment (golf clubs, fishing gear, etc)

Highly recommend checking weather conditions as well.

Rooms are also spacious with self catering equipment. Has on-site grocery.

Mid week in San Lameer with Family

I want to preface this review by mentioning that San Lameer has been a firm favourite of ours for many years and we visit on average a couple times a year alternating between hotel and villas. Our most recent visit to the hotel was not great, not because of one gaping issue but because of numerous small challenges which mounted up to become annoying enough to spoil our stay. This is the first time we have encountered such problems and hopefully these will be resolved by the time we return. I should also mention that many of these issues were brought to the attention of the reception staff and one of the managers and despite the promise of feedback to many of our concerns, management did follow up. 
1. I booked online and only classic rooms were available . I called the hotel to ask if these rooms could take a child and the reservations team informed me to proceed with the booking and they could add a mattress. On arrival I was told there would be an additional charge which was never discussed with me at anytime. This was resolved almost immediately and a sofa bed was delivered to the room.
2. There is no turn down service so each night, we had to make our child’s bed. This is the first time I have ever stayed at a hotel where I have to make up any of the beds. 
3. The check in team tried to charge me for the full stay despite having paid a deposit. I explained that I had used my credit card to reserve the room and that the deposit amount had ready come off. This was also resolved quickly but was completely avoidable. 
4. There was no Wi-Fi for our entire stay. What was most annoying about this was that whenever we went to the front desk to get an update, the story kept changing. We heard various excuses from load shedding to routine maintenance but the best one was on day two of no Wi-Fi service,  the manager told it was my fault because I was using the wrong password. This turned out to be wrong when one of the guest service staff told the manager that the password I was using was indeed correct and that the guest internet was not working. The manager assured me that they would have an answer as to when the Wi-Fi would be resolved within 30 minutes but no one got back to me and the issue was not resolved. 
5. The safe in our room was closed and locked. I reported this to the reception the morning after checkin and 4 hours later had to follow up and eventually had this issue resolved.  
6. The kids aqua play area was not working. Usually there is a button which when pressed starts the water jets for about 10 minutes. When we arrived  at the pool shortly after 10am the jets were on but went off a short time later. We asked some garden staff to help and they told us it was not their department. We asked the staff at the Spa and they said they’d make a call. Nothing happened so about 15 minutes later we asked the leisure desk staff and they told us to go and look for the pool cleaner! I even called the hotel front desk and they assured me “someone” was on their way. Another 15 minutes passed and still nothing so I went in person to the front desk. More calls were made and this seemed to work as by the time I got back to the pool, the fountain jets were on and my three year had fun for just a few minutes after which time they switched off automatically. With no one in sight to assist, we left the area and went to the beach instead. 
7. My wife booked me an aromatherapy massage at the Spa and when I arrived I was advised that they’d run out of oil. They offered a few alternate options and I chose the hot stone. This was not communicated to the masseuse who initially tried to substitute the aromatherapy oils with cannabis oil instead. This got sorted eventually but added to my frustrations of the day and although the experience was enjoyable, it wasn’t what had been booked. 
8. The final issue we had was at breakfast, sour milk was served with the coffee causing it to curdle. This was solved quickly once the restaurant team were advised.

As I mentioned individually, these were no big deals nor deal breakers but combined really impacted negatively on our mini vacation for all of us. We will be back as we have supported this hotel for many years but hopefully these comments will be taken as constructive feedback to improve the guest experience.

What happened ?

we booked our Honeymoon at this venue. such an awful experience unfriendly staff, unwilling to help, nobody takes accountability. We booked the suite, which I assumed was the quality/elite room in the hotel. The DSTV was not working The Heater was out of order & this being the middle of winter The room had a terrible odor, smelled damp & stuffy The curtains was absolutely dirty, as if it wasn’t washed in years The room safe was locked. There wasn’t any water to drink in the room The corridor walking up to the room was dirty, doubt it was swept in a month.
Took them 3 weeks to refund my money
Please don't waste your time and money with this venue.
I also reported them to the department of tourism.

Terrible venue

Best place you could visit in south africa. Best value for your money. We realy enjoy our stay there. Staff are amazing people. We will surely make another trip during our holidays . Among the best place to visit in the country 

Awesome place

We made a booking through Dream Vacation Club and we were accommodated in unit 2905. We unfortunately arrived there in the dark as a result of road closures. There are three sets of stairs leading to the unit. Lights are nearby sets one and three but set two is in the dark and extremely dangerous. The outside light at the unit was not working. The unit is extremely neglected and as a result very scruffy. Paint peeling of the ceilings, hand rails patio furniture, etc.  Roof tiles missing, security lights removed and/or not working during loadshedding, washing line broken, etc. The shutters at bedroom two cannot be closed fully and the shutter at the main bedroom was installed up-side-down and as a result thereof one can see into the bedroom from the lounge area. The grime in the shower is shocking and the shower door does not work properly. It seems to me San Lameer is only investing money into the golf course and their gardens. It is absolutely shameful for anyone to be accommodated in such a neglected place. The worst I have seen in all my traveling. The photos will tell their own story. I am unfortunately only allowed to post 10 photos although I have a total of 25 photos as proof of the above.

Shocking State of Accommodation

Myself and my husband stayed here for our honeymoon night.. We enjoyed every minute 😊
We will definitely be coming again soon, especially to the spar.
Dinner was also excellent.
The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. 

A great stay

Great service all around, improvements required on the TV set and limited television channels. I enjoyed the stay really a nice place to stay in with the partner or family, friendly staff, and tasty food.
