Hippy place in Durban (420 friendly) ... 5 minutes drive to town and beaches. The place is super colorful and the staff is phenomenal. Very social crowd. Beds are comfy, bathrooms clean-ish, kitchen very well equipped. There are a bunch of friendly dogs to greet you. I would recommend.

This was beautiful hostel in Durban with an amazing view and amazing people who were always helpful and taught us a way around the city. I was only going to stay 1 night but made some misbookings and ended up staying 4 nights which was a bit of a blessing in disguise:)

The atmosphere is lovely, everyone is friendly and the rooms are nice and clean. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend the place to anyone going to Durban on a budget! Thank you so much for the hospitality.  It was a great stay.

Super awesome people and location. Had a view of the ocean from the property. Close enough to the beach. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. Made new friends as well. I'll be returning there many times!

One of thee best backpackers I've been to in the country by far. Very warm, welcoming and friendly. Cathy and Dean are the best hosts and hostesses and thank you for making me feel at home. Will definitely be coming back again.

The hosts is a great person who is welcoming and makes you feel at home. they go out of their way to accommodate all their guests. they were good to me but awesome to my sister. i am really grateful and honored to have met those people. 

Aweh backpackers is a great place with kind people. 
A relaxed and open atmosphere will help you to come out of your shell.
If your looking for adventure here is a good place to start.
If chilling is your modus operandi then you will go no further than the pool and the view.
Expect good memories.

Our Vacation was aswome as this venue caters to most of not all the family needs.My husband and my two young sons enjoyed playing with Milo and Noodle and the other guests and house mates made this stay a very fun and memorable experience and a very reasonable price too.Thank you Cathy and Shannon for the hospitality..much love Aweh🤘

Aweh Africa backpackers is really a home away from home. I booked a very impromptu trip to Durban, on a long weekend, and yet Cathy and the rest of the awesome humans at Aweh Africa welcomed my arrival with open arms. The backpackers has a homey feel to it, with regular guests and friends hanging around, 3 awesome dogs on the property, a pool, braai area, amazing artworks on every surface. 
I admit, it might not be to everyone's taste (e.g. I can't imagine my conservative parents staying there), but I found a second family and second home in Durban North and I cannot wait to go back!

Rustic but truly homey.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Aweh Africa Backpackers in Durban and will recommend them as Cathy and her team went out of their way to make me feel comfortable.
