Great location in front of the ferry. Lady who greeted us and checked us in was very nice and helpful.Room was beautiful with nice views of the bay.Clean and quiet.

Great facility.  Great service.  Wonderful breakfast.  Great value.

Stayed here for two nights in early November with a friend - we had a reservation at Iris restaurant. Both of our rooms had balconies with lovely views. The hotel is historic, but the rooms were very comfortable, updated and stylish. Ove and his team prepared an incredible breakfast for us the first morning and on the second morning packed a lovely breakfast for us to take back to Bergen on the fjord cruise. Highly recommend!

Typical norway hotel. The owner is very kind, the breakfast is tasty and the rooms are very clean. The bathroom for share was always filled with fresh towels. The street in front of the hotel has low traffic and the cars drive slow because of speedbumps, we did not recognized it.

Best and most beautifully laid out breakfast ever.

This is a unique property that is somewhere between a hotel, B&B, and hostel.  I found it very peaceful with a beautiful view off of the balcony on the second floor.  The staff were great...very friendly and helpful.  This hotel also has the best food in the area and a great chef.  Seriously, I tried them all.  Don't waste your time, just eat at the hotel...where many locals do as well and hang around for a nice drink in the back room, which is very cozy.  As for setting expectations, the rooms are as advertised and small on US standards with somewhat thin walls, but are clean and the beds were comfortable.  Also, as advertised, there are shared bathrooms similar to a hostel, but I did not find it off putting, clean, and fit well with the historic nature of the inn.What I liked best.  I mentioned to the staff that I had planned an early departure for a hike and would miss breakfast.  They saw to it a box was set out for me prior to a 4:30 AM departure with a wonderful meal packed so that I got my money's worth and didn't go hungry on my 27km hike that day.  That brings me to the area...absolutely stunning beauty in every direction.  The hotel is a great option to base yourself from if you are looking to explore and hike the fjords and glacier.  You can also head out on a boat, fish, or just do a nice half hour walk past a majestic waterfall and old palace.  I also found the town had everything I needed within 100 meters to include grocery store and outdoor adventure  store.

The hotel has a lot of history about it.  The renovation did not change that. Current owners are very concerned to maintain the the way it has been in the past.  They are great people and very welcoming.

This was a perfect stay in every way. There were 14 of us traveling together and Ove did everything in his power to make this an incredible stay. We went a little bit after the season (late September) and the restaurant was closed. Ove made arrangements for a couple of group dinners at another nearby hotel. On some days with no reservations, Ove allowed us to use his restaurant kitchen to prepare our own meals. It was great fun and Ove bartended and even helped us to clean up afterwards. Breakfast was served every morning, and he was able to take care of all of our dietary needs. The location was in the center of Rosendal and the rooms were clean and comfy. I can't recommend this hotel enough.

We loved our stay at the Rosendal Turisthotell.  The owner was very accommodating.  We had a large group of 14 and since it was past peak season and the restaurant was closed, he let us use the kitchen to cook our own meals.  He still had the bar open so we were able to have some drinks.  He also gave us some good information on the area and we learned a thing or two about Norway and its culture from him.  It was also a good location for the Folgefonna glacier activities we had planned (kayaking, trekking) and you can even take a walk-on ferry back to Bergen for a day trip which we took advantage of.

Nice old hotel.  Exactly met my expectations.  Good meal and great breakfast.  friendly staff.  BUT it can be hard for me to climb stairs..... the stair were a challenge, but I managed.  Sound proofing between the rooms could be improved.

It's a very cute but basic hotel. The hotel does not have any standard necessaries like a normal hotel does, no soap , shampoo , hairdryer , iron in the rooms.  We called in before we booked the hotel and asked for two separate beds in the room and they confirmed several weeks ahead that it’s no issue. When we arrived after a long trip they gave us a double bed so we had to leave the room and have them rearrange the room for us. 

Also they don't clean the rooms during your stay, even though we asked for it. Most of the staff are really nice and helpful, the women in the kitchen are so sweet gets you whatever you need. 

We were two people in our room but only had towels/robe for one person so we asked a man downstairs several times for more towels so both of us could shower but he never delivered it to us. The hotel was not busy but he just ignored the task and told us he will get to it soon. I couldnt shower that day because of it. 
I had to drag him with me end of the day after approaching him several times about it since the morning and we went to several rooms and picked towels from other rooms in the end together. He never supplied a second robe though and was quite dismissive about it.  Food in the restaurant is great, so is the breakfast, again, staff , besides the man with the towels were all amazing :)

Very nice hotel run by a great owner

I have just spent 4 nights here, attending the local Rosendal Music Festival. The location is perfect, right by the fjord, The chef is French and the food is beautiful; one starter, three carefully selected main courses and 2 desserts that tell you they are fresh and considered. And the rooms are really lovely. Ove and Turid, the owners, have created a wonderful place to stay. I especially enjoyed a late night beer or wine on the balcony looking out to the fjord and didn't need the blankets provided but it might be even nicer if we did.  It's a stunning 2 hour ferry journey from Bergen and there is so much to do here; hiking and swimming in the fjord. We want to come back. We love Norway. 

A hotel with a view and a great deal more

The Rosendal Turisthotell is s lovely restored hotel from the 1800s . Our room was quite modern and cozy and the owner was kind and friendly . It is located just by the water with a view of the fjords. The dinner was homemade and quite delicious. The breakfast was included and had meats, cheeses, fresh bread , yogurt, fruit and granola . It was very nice. Overall a nice place to stay with a view and close to many hikes and boat excursions .

Beautiful historic hotel

I booked this hotel for my son (Josh)  who was travelling solo.  He was greeted with a smile and received an upgrade, this was a great start for someone who had been camping in the snow previous to this.  The room had underfloor heating, dressing gowns, towels, all in all a really nice to stay.  He would stay here again.

A good nights sleep

This family owned and operated hotel is located by the fjord in an area with incredible nature. We came there to hike in the surrounding mountains, there are a lot of good trail options from the extreme to the casual. The hotel is an old well-kept building, and the owners have done a great renovation job. The rooms are modern (while still cosy), and the atmosphere is relaxing. The host and hostess are very friendly. The restaurant was closed (out of season) so we did not get to try it, will do the next time. Very good breakfast. This hotel has soul is recommended!

A real gem in a beautiful area of Norway!

Excellent location. Great dinner and wonderful breakfast. But not able to leave luggage prior to being able to check in as the doors were locked. Left a phone number but had no access to phone but information center across street were helpful. The staff very helpful. No elevator to get upstairs but they helped carry our heavy suitcases. Old fashioned but clean. Gave us upgraded room as we had a lot of luggage. They were wonderful
