What a very nice small hotel this is.  Immaculately presented and a welcome of coffee and delicious cake on arrival.  Very pleasant room with very comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. A very short walk to the pretty town centre of old Makkum where there is A good choice of restaurants.  Breakfast was excellent with home made jam and pastries, fruit, etc and eggs cooked to order.  
A very pretty garden with outside seating.  Great value

A gem

I have stayed at Villa Mar on many occasions over the past 10 years - always perfect, quiet, calm, comfortable and spotless- great value and warm hospitality.
Although dinner is not available, the very central location is only a short walk from several restaurant options 


Home from home 

A magnificent hotel, built in a two-story house, just steps from downtown, friendly and affordable property, super abundant breakfast and very bright rooms, not to mention the fireplace room where you can spend pleasant evenings around the fire playing cards.

A quiet nest

Lovely clean building, excellent food and very courteous owner , would highly recommend . House is located around 5 minutes walk from the centre of the town of Makkum and has some nice restaurants and public houses .The owner kindly drove myself and my son  on a number of occasions to the marina and give us a short tour of his local surf school ideally located on the beach . There are plenty of nice local walks along the waterways and the local area is quite scenic .


Lovely location close to town centre

A lovingly maintained house in the best location of Makkum. A large room with a very large bathroom, perfectly clean. Interesting, lovingly furnished. Good breakfast, very friendly owners. The only criticism; mattresses have come a long way. We'd love to stay there again.

Perfect location in Makkum, very nice house

Very nice surprise after hours on the highway, to find this peaceful haven. Very warm welcome. Between the Hotel and the Hospitality House. Extremely showery room with very comfortable bedding and couches. Very quiet place. impeccable cleanliness. We didn't think we would find this kind of establishment in this area. Close to the restaurants of this small fishing port. Breakfast served between 8 and 10 hours, as a buffet but too full standard. It would require a more personal touch like the place. Cold and loud room. WIFI that works well (access code by the owner). A nice comforting surprise given.

Pleasure and Simplicity

It's very clean, furnished with a lot of detail. The rooms are very quiet and beautiful, but depending on what you do, you can also enjoy a night in the fireplace in a familiar atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is great.

Family-friendly establishment

The Villa Mar is a wonderful little house. It was decorated with love and charm by the owner couple. It's a great mix of antique and modern, just a wonderful place like we never imagined. We spent a week here in June and were warmly received. From the bike ticket to alternative destinations, the host advised us. The idea of the community kitchen is particularly remarkable, so if you want, you can have dinner or clone with other guests in the evening. A great idea. We can highly recommend it, it was wonderful. We wish both our hosts a great summer.

A little god.

We stayed in VillaMar Hotel for 3 nights in september 2013 and we were happy, that we had found this place. It was amazing. Makkum is calm little town, which is great situated close to sea. There is a nice beach and resort.
The hotel is not far from the sea and very well-decorated. Our room was quite big and we had everything that we need. We slept very well and there are comfortable orthopedic matrasses in the bedroom! In the hotel there is a common kitchen with all the facilities for tea or coffe and cooking.
Breakfast was good too: Coffe or tea, meat, cheese, eggs, ect 
The host was wellcoming and helpfull. She recommended visiting some interesting places and helped to arrange our trip to see the seals. She also let us use her bicycles.
We had a good time in VillaMar Hotel and we'll be happy to come to Makkum again.

Very good and relaxing

We spent a long weekend surfing in Makkum in the summer and stayed at this lovely little hotel. It is so beautifully furnished that we have repeatedly erupted into thunderstorms. I am not exaggerating! The beds in both rooms were so comfortable that we did not want to get up at all. In addition, a delicious, rich breakfast, very nice hosts (where we also borrowed the surfboards) and a well-equipped community kitchen. No wishes remain open here!
