The man at the reception is kind at first, then he turns out to be a shameless asshole. He calls strangers liars. There's no evidence of his GTC being inhuman. The rooms are a disaster, not even hot water and just dirty! The windows can't be opened badly until they don't. Doors don't ring. Advice doesn't come down here and it's not that cheap, the man at the reception makes his prices at every guest himself. Walls don't blossom, windows and door frames don't blossom for long. Holy lights over the bed get so hot that you break your forehead. This hotel staff and cheat!

Just bad.

This is a typical budget hotel and you get what you pay for.
Room with bed, table and 2 chairs and a wardrobe. Tv and free wifi.
There is a washing table in the room, down the hall 2 toilets and 2 showers for the people of that floor.
Owner friendly, good breakfast.

Good budget hotel

Spent 2 nights here, having come for the Bowie exhibition.  It's fairly basic, with no en-suite in the room I chose (but fairly quiet if you ask for a room at the back), but clean.  Breakfast included, really just bread and cold meat/cheese, but nice orange juice and coffee.  The owner was pleasant and helpful.  Probably not appropriate for a woman travelling alone (just to left of hotel as you exit is a very in-your-face red light street, though turn right and you're on a quite elegant pedestrianised shopping street, girls).  Groningen was a nice town to hang out in for 48 hours, with very vibrant cafe culture and interesting shops.  But apart from Bowie, the best thing I did was get train to Uithuizen to see lovely Menkeneborg manor house.

Decent at price

We were travelling from Germany and called the hotel to check availability. The manager confirmed us the double room. When we got there (18:30) he told us he has sold the room to another guys.

"Sorry, I cannot help you" He said.

"Maybe you fit in a single room (we are couple + dog) for 30€, have a look"

The room was really worn out, dirty, noisy. Not the place you want to stay. The street is full of noisy bars, so not the place to rest.

That was it. Then we had no room.

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel The best: well located (close to the shopping and downtown area), not too expensive, proper rooms and free breakfast! The worst: very bad indoor and outdoor soundproofing, a lot of noise on the weekends, capricious radiators and moderately maintained showers. Good quality price ratio

Practical

The hotel is very old, it's more like a hostel, but those who are low-minded, and want to spend little are the max... Great base because at the center of everything... good, personal breakfast always kind and available... it's very simple is let's say how you feel at home... I'll definitely come back when I go to Groningen..:)

It's not very demanding, but it's great.

Clean and tidy with communal facilities that were clean  I was only after a bed for the night and was happy with what was provided clean comfortable and dry etc after a wet and windy day cycling Ok for what I paid but not a place for a nice stay in Groningen on holiday etc 

Basic and comfortable 

I lodged two nights at Hotel Friesland.  The breakfast was pretty good, its dining room cozy and comfortable. My room (#12) was just okay, the double bed, actually two single mattresses placed side by side.  

Friesland's location was ideal, a building built in 1840 in the historic area, maybe a kilometer or less from the train station, on a quiet street.  The WiFi was excellent to the room, the best I have had so far in Europe. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Good value, good location, excellent WiFi

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend. The rooms are spacious, breakfast plentiful and the prices are modest. The location is perfect because you're in the center, close to everything.

Perfect location

Very old and age-old hotel. A sparse furnishings is basically no problem, but the cleanliness was really inadequate. After we lay in bed for a short time, we got a huge cough and skin rash, a high suspicion of mites. After we removed the bedding, the blankets were full of stains and really very disgusting. After complaining, we got freshly furnished bedding. When we checked, there were again the same dirty blankets advertised a few minutes ago. After that, we slept in jeans and jackets, and luckily, it was only one night.
