13 reviewsBeautiful location in the middle of canals, pasture, lakes and fields. Peaceful and relaxing for our 3-generation family vacation. We had 3 rooms on the upper floor, and all were clean, charming and well-appointed. Lots of hot water in the baths with great water pressure. The dining room and kitchen downstairs are lovely and always open for guest use. There were also lots of outdoor space for us to get together and enjoy a glass of wine while the kids ran around with the bikes, toys and carts that were on hand for them to use. Adults and kids alike loved being shown the sheep and chickens and getting to pat Thomas, the pony...the kids were even shown how to collect eggs for next morning's breakfast! Laura really spoiled us with her delicious breakfast spread every morning--she really made an effort to make sure we tried different Dutch specialities. And the cheese on the breakfast buffet that Gerda and her husband make is delectable! The location is perfect--easy access to Zaanse Schans, Volendam, Alkmaar, Edam (we had a car, but there were other guests who biked to each town every day). Great restaurants around the corner, or in the nearby picturesque town, de Rijp. We also rented an electric boat one day and motored around the canals and lakes, which everyone loved. All in all, a wonderfully relaxing stay--we are already dreaming of going back!
