This is not the usual Nida guest house with white rooms, comfy beds and best views from the terrace restaurant.

The hotel is located on what used to be the writers' union premises and when I was in Nida 12 years ago was a neglected dump with a barely functioning bar on the roof. Now its a clean and lively hotel (albeit basic in terms of some of the amenities) with the best restaurant (In Vino) in Nida where the old roof bar used to be. Don't expect anything fancy (given the prices that would be unwise anyway) and enjoy the hilltop location between the sea and the "valley" which is what the locals call the "lagoon" side.

Best value for money with the creative twist

This place was much, much worse than we ever expected. Crumbling walls, crumbling steps, broken wooden handrails, window frames that looked anything but safe, a balcony that I wouldn't step onto in case it collapsed, ancient wardrobes and cupboard covered in 'trendy, creative, artistic, yellowed newpaper' ???? What's that about???? A bathroom with a clean toilet but an excess of protruding pipes and a bath that had a base of grey/brown as the enamel had been eroded away over the years. It was the sort of room/bathroom where you would not remove your clothes from your case or even stand in the bath to wash your feet. This place should be razed to the ground immediately. 
When we asked the password for the free wifi the receptionist proudly said 'paradise'...then we saw the room! We moved out immediately and found accommendation elsewhere for the same money.     I have never been anywhere so poor! It doesn't even deserve 1 star, but there is no option for zero!
