I have been backpacking across Latvia and needed low budget/basic accommodations for one night. The Skangaļu Manor was suggested and it delivered. They opened their doors to just me, yes just me for that one night. They got me from town to save me the last 5 km and brought me over to my room and bathroom. The price was perfect for a backpacker and the whole Manor was for me that afternoon and night. The place is gorgeous with lots of history I bet. Didn’t get a chance to see it during the height of the season or during an important event but I bet it glows. Of course they have better than backpacker accommodations, I requested basic. The outside grounds are beautiful, flowers beds, gardens and dozens of fully loaded apple trees. The following morning a very good breakfast, once again just for me, was served and all coffee I could drink. I hope I can come back in the future and not just for one backpacking night.
