Vang Vieng

I came to this hotel without advanced reservation. Find out that the owner is not helpful and a bit tricky on currency rate. The owner said the room is included breakfast but actually there is NO. No any staff or owner stanby at reception or office .   In room TV is available but cannot turn on.

First time and last time for this hotel....

The hotel is in a very good location. However. The balcony of the website shows that the Song River can be seen from the balcony but the actual balcony is not closed to the Song River.

Popular View is a basic very clean Accommodation. The view from your balcony is simply amazing and it changes every morning and though out the day. At the front door on the Right you have a 7 / 11 shop and on the left a motorcycle hire and laundry.
Popular View is 100 meters from the morning markets and very central to the night markets and the centre of Vang Vieng.
Just beside Popular View is a path down to the River where there is a bridge crossing the river to the Restaurants along the river edge or a beer with your feet in the river to cool down.
The staff were amazing and helpful and very honest people.
I highly recommend this beautiful place, Enjoy 

Location Location Location right on the Song River in the middle of Vang Vieng 

Conveniently located guesthouse with large comfortable room.  Room had a large window which strangely looked into a frequently used corridor. Spacious bathroom but the basin was almost falling off the wall!! Wifi worked well in lobby but rarely worked in the room

Value for money in centre of town

A dog came barking out of reception threatening to bite me.
If the management is too soft and/or stupid to let an out of control dog drive away customers, they should not have customers.
In addition, a dog of this type on the premises, is likely to be barking at the sky at five o'clock in the morning.

I tried to stop there but . . .

It is a really nice place, i don't know the other  people experiences but I've really enjoyed my night there.

The room was big with king size bed so you can sleep comfortable.

The views are good, to the river and the breakfast simple but free.

We arrived at the Popular Hotel in the early evening without reservation. Surprised that there were still enough rooms available, we booked for two nights. Large rooms with hot water and air conditioning a little noisy from the passing boats. We were not disturbed by this. The view is the hammer. One has to take pictures. We would be back in Popular next. Overall, Vang Vieng has the best days behind him. We would be happy if the rice fields were managed again and thus give a better picture.

The room and hotel itself was disgusting. The lobby had bugs all over the floor. The room had bugs and a ton of mosquitoes. The window in the bathroom had gaps and was filled with mosquitoes. I got a mosquito bite within the first 2 minutes of stepping into the room. Dirt was everywhere in the corners of the room as if they swept everything into the corner. Good thing we had a bug net which we used. Only stayed one night and went to the hotel next door called Grandview Riverside Hotel which was 100x better and cheaper. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the Popular View Hotel. Go next door to the Grandview Riverside Hotel instead for better/cleaner rooms, better service, better Wi-Fi connection, and just basically a much better hotel.

Disgusting place with a ton of bugs and mosquitoes

Unfortunately booked this Accomidation for two nights. Booked two rooms. Ours was with a view and the other was not. Our view was down onto a dilapidated building with a small view of the mountains in the background. Our friends room who did not have a view were actually on the river. Not sure how this makes sense but we ended up paying more for our room. We opted out of eating breakfast there as it didn’t look clean at all. The rooms had a terrible smell! They were unclean, more than 2 of us found bugs on our bed or under our pillows. The curtains were all mould and stained. Bathroom unclean and the pipe at the back of the sink was missing and all the waste from sink poured onto the ground. Left floor saturated while going to the bathroom. Our friends room had a terrible smell too and they complained about ants in the bedroom. Staff , the family, were friendly, they allowed us to leave our bags in the room until 12:30 on checkout day as we were away doing activities.
