Vang Vieng

The location is nice, close to the center, and restaurants. Not far from the river too. The garden atmosphere is beautiful, full of tables, chairs, hammocks in a green garden. But for $45 a night, I expected a little better in the room. The bathroom is not crazy, and the pressure in the shower (not adjustable) is pretty bad. Not a lot of root canvases. The decor may look old but the staff is nice and we finally feel good here. We enjoy hanging out in the garden. A price below $35 would seem reasonable to me.

A bit expensive but good location

The location is a bit far from the center. The staff was good. The breakfast was nice but The room was quite old. There is something broken in the bathroom without any touch.
with same rate , you can find another good , new hotel and near to the center.

Good

So I can only make a positive comment. The room is clean, it wasn't rusty, and the breakfast was good. The staff was friendly & always worked hard. I also found the situation good. I would come back here anytime.

Top of the head

Even it is not really in the "center", it is a really quite place. Nice staff and good environment.  Totally recommendable. The hotel is clean and offers restaurants nearby. If I come back to Vang Vieng, I would repeat.

Good place and nice staff

If it had cost 10 euros, I would have been happy, but for the price I got luxury in Luang Prabang, Thailand and Bali. The room was clean, but it only offered what was needed. No closet, fridge, safe. You can't turn the windows dark, no view, not even breakfast. WiFi comes and goes.

Overpriced

The original guest house we wanted was fully booked and settled on this as was rushed in booking.

Stairs up to rooms 301.... are like climbing a mountain.  The door is secured by a padlock when you go out, guess that means no one is getting in.

The power situation is bordering on illegal even for SEA terms.

The beds were ok, bathroom was horrific. I have attached photos. You needed to get wet, turn off tap, wash, turn on tap.

No breakfast included, no wifi in the rooms, only in common area.

You could still hear the music from clubs and a rooster was up ALL night. Woke me up but went back to sleep straight away.

Only good thing about this is it's not right in 'city centre' where noise would have been a lot worse.

DON'T STAY HERE.

Worst Room EVER

Basic problem: Champa Lao and Champalao the villa are two different hotels in close proximity on the same street. Reviews of each are conflated in the Trip Advisor listings, so it is conceivable and likely that you will (as we were) be deluded in your expectations. I think this is a perfectly okay little place to crash if the guest is 19 years old and spends his/her time tubing on the river all day and partying on the street half the night. If one is at a more mature stage of life, it's a shock to find oneself in a tiny box of a room without a window (except into the common courtyard, which means no chance of privacy) and no extras, including no breakfast. The courtyard (just outside the door to the room and the single window) is an inviting gathering place for all the youth on vacation, so the likelihood of intolerable noise is high. The desk staff were very pleasant, though often not in evidence. The one advantage is that the location is far enough along on the street as to be a bit beyond the limits of the droves of crowding, drifting, aimless, feckless vacationers as they congregate, disband and regroup. Clearly, Vang Vieng was a bad choice for an older couple to try to spend one night on the road to Luang Prabang. No worries... two Valium, earplugs and a mid-morning bus ticket out was all the salvation we could hope for.

Beware of two hotels with same name!

The rooms are not very clean, the rooms are also very bright, the staff speaks poor English except for the boss, the backyard is cozy, and we enjoyed it.

Okay, that's it.

The rooms in the garden are clean enough, the bathroom is acceptable x $20, not for $40! Bad staff and the rest of the cleaning crew are terrible! They never say hello, in return they cut their toenails in the lobby, 3 dogs park in the lobby and consequently the sessions are filled with smells and hair, in the cafeteria (very dear) this morning there was a dead chicken that was not picked up while we were making breakfast!

Overvalued

The price was high for a simple room with ac and a rather basic bathroom. 
supposed to be budget I think but more like mid-range without the mid range features
The communal areas were pleasant, sitting in the garden to do work on the internet was good. Internet does not work well / at all in most rooms.  The staff were helpful.  There is hot water and coffee and tea available throughout the day in the reception area. The location was good as it was in a quiet area but near several good eateries and food stalls
