Wally Hotel

We are actually staying at the Hotel Wally at the moment. Booked last year when I found a fantastic deal on Booking.com. I thought that even if the place is rubbish we wouldn't lose a fortune. About 6 weeks ago, my brother in law and his wife told us they were coming across from Australia and asked if they could come to Italy with us, so I booked another room for them. I didn't tell the hotel we were related, but they obviously worked out from the email address that we were together, and we ended up on adjacent rooms on the top floor. The hotel seems to be a family business and I've never been in such a friendly hotel in my life. Nothing is to much trouble for them. Its located 3 blocks from the sea, in a lovely little piaza and although it doesn't have a pool, it's literally a 2 or 3 minutewalk to the hotels private beach. We seem to be the only Brits here at the moment, it's mainly Italians with a few Germans and Austrians, but that's not a problem; it makes you realise how badly some Brits can behave in other countries. The rooms themselves are clean and modern with not a hint of that depressing dark wood furniture found in a lot of Italian hotels. Now for the even better bit. When we got here, we thought we'd eat in the hotel just for convenience really, and we had a 3 course meal, with buffet salad and sweets for 10 euros. No that's not a typo. 10 euros to eat as well as I've ever eaten in an Italian hotel. Add to that free (and fast, even on the fifth floor) wi-fi, and free bike hire, and it has to be the bargain of the century! Try it, it's too good to leave to the Italians!
