Excellent
I stumbled upon Liberty Hotel while looking for hotels to stay at in Central Jakarta. My first choice next to a mall was fully booked, and this was the next best thing. Little did I know that Liberty Hotel is much better! • Room — I booked a King Standard Room. I was surprised how lovely their room was for a standard one. Spotless clean, spacious, modern. I love that there are so many surfaces you can place your stuff on top of to: table, bench next to it, two bedside tables, and the closet. The king-sized bed is comfy. My room had a good view at the less busier side of the area. The TV had a good mix of Indonesian and English channels. Appliances included an electronic kettle with coffee and tea, and a small fridge with freezer (which I love because I like bringing home ice cream to the hotel room during my vacations). The AC kept the room cool and was easily adjustable with the panel on the wall next to the bed. — Bathroom: The bathroom looked elegant with adequate lighting, toiletries provided. The toilet was near the sink, which I always prefer. Shampoo and body soap were in dispensers in the shower. The shower had good pressure and adjustable hot water. There's a glass window between the shower and the bed, though there are roller blinds for privacy. • Dining — My booking came with breakfast (buffet style). I love that most of the food were Indonesian food, so I got to tick off some of them from my list of Indonesian dishes to try early on. There were desserts, cereal, bread, fresh fruits, and drinks. I enjoyed their daily offerings that got me started in the morning. My vacation was during Ramadan season by the way. Non-Muslims need not worry if there is food served. The dining area is also a cafe, so do check out their coffee and other food items such as pastries and pasta. • WiFi There is free WiFi which was good for video calls and streaming on your devices. • Hotel Facilities/Amenities/Atmosphere - I wasn't able to explore the hotel much, but I don't think there was a gym nor a pool. Their website states they have a meeting room. As for the atmosphere, the hotel is in one of the inner roads so it was quiet and less busy compared to the main road and the mall areas. • Location, Shopping, Vicinity The hotel is about 10 minutes walking distance from luxury malls (Grand Indonesia Mall, Plaza Indonesia Mall), which I found a little bit far when I had heavy grocery bags with me, LOL. Another mall is Sarinah, which is even farther. It is, however, less-than-a-minute walk away from the nearest train station (Dukuh Atas BNI), and some five-minute walk to the nearest bus station. The Selamat Datang Monument roundabout is also a landmark near the hotel, beautifully seen from the Bundaran HI station balcony. As for convenience stores, the nearest one is in the subway station which is only open until around 10pm. The next one (Alfamart) is when you continue walking inward on the street the hotel is on. I got there one night but it was dark and there were barely anyone walking, and I didn't feel safe. Better do your supply runs during the day. And money changers, I already had enough rupiah I exchanged from my home country so I didn't need one. I didn't see any on street level near the hotel, but there should be one in the malls around. • Reservation, Check-in, Luggage Storage, Deposit I had a midnight flight, so I indicated on my Agoda booking that I'll be arriving very early morning on the first day of my booked stay. I also noted during my booking some 2 weeks before that a friend might send a gift for me through them. When I arrived, check-in was a breeze, and they had my note regarding the possible delivery recorded on their system. There might have been security deposit required (I forgot), and most sites say it's 300,000 IDR (I think I got a receipt for it?). Check-out was also smooth. My flight wasn't till the evening, so I had my luggage stored with them after check-out. • Service and Security All the staff were friendly from the security, front desk, cafe, and housekeeping. Security personnel and camera were present. • Parking, Drop-off/Pick-up Area Since the hotel is in one of the inner streets, there isn't much traffic and it's easy for pick-up and drop-off without hurrying. There are also a few parking spots at the front of the hotel. • Value I found the price value for money for the several days of stay I had. Considering the hotel's excellent location, modern and well-maintained rooms, and good food, I found it actually affordable. • Overall I tremendously enjoyed my stay at Liberty Hotel for its elegant rooms, and its proximity to the Central Jakarta malls and public transport. I'm glad my first choice of hotel was fully booked and I ended up at Liberty Hotel. This gave me a fantastic first impression for my first trip to Indonesia. Would be happy to stay here again on my next visit to Jakarta.
