I came here with my mother to spend some days in Kőszeg and the neighbouring areas. The building is so antique with clean rooms and old furniture. I can recommend it to everyone. Our room was big enough and the window provided an excellent view to the square. The hotel is situated next to the Heart of Jesus Cathedral, its bell can be annoying at times. The only negative point is that the car park is miniature. It is hard to drive out of it. Also, the Wi-Fi is rather compromised and unstable. Sometimes the signal is dropped.

This small hotel is a nice choice for a family stay in a lovely town. Right at the Main square, in the historic centre of Kőszeg, this hotel offers a fair and cheap accomodation. Rooms are old fashioned, but clean and comfortable. Plenty of breakfast on its nice terrace is available.

Nice choice for a family stay in a lovely town

The churchbell is too loud. Quite basic but cheap hotel. The bathroom does not offer any space and the cleaning is not really up to any standards. The breakfast offers sweet orange juice from the can and the bread is mostly from the day before. If you dont expect anything you ll right. The church bell on Sunday rings you out of your dreams at 7.00 am.

The hotel is quite run down to the lowest level - even for Hungary/Koczeg where lower standards are quite common. One should not expect any luxury or cleaniness, any friendliness, any facility working. If you really just need a place for the night it is ok. The facts are: its loud, its  not clean, the hungarien guests are super low level, bed is hard, towels are torn, and the breakfast is very very simple: coffee is nescafe, bread is old, orange juice is canned, salami is fat. Anyone with minumim standards wont like it.

This is nestled up against the main church in koszeg square and is in a great location overlooking but away from the hustle and bustle in the square. With indoor and outdoor seating we were looking forward to tea. However the water which arrived was from a faulty machine contaminated with cleaning salts or other chemicals and could not be drunk. We therefore had to leave.

The only good thing about the hotel is the location. It’s in the main square of the town. 
The equipments of the room is old and bad condition. Cleaning is the worst I have seen. Rooms weren’t cleaned everyday. On the third day we request cleaning but they only cleaned the bathroom. The bell of church disturbing. Breakfast is not good not bad

I don’t like it

First the positives: in theory it’s in a great position, with the historic centre on your doorstep. The exterior of the hotel is charming and the shower was really good. Wifi worked well and parking wasn’t a problem at all - I don’t understand what others are complaining about. And the price at HUF7,480 (about A$37) for one person including breakfast was very reasonable.

But when I read a couple of reviews saying beware of the neighbouring church’s bells,I rang the hotel to check what time they start in the morning. I was told either 6 or 7 but found this morning that they start - very loudly - at 5am, with further ringing every 15 minutes thereafter. So I had seriously disturbed sleep and, very disappointingly, the hotel wasn’t honest about the issue.

Also: (1) the room hadn’t been cleaned properly (soap someone else had used was in the shower and there was a hair in the basin); (2) no shampoo supplied, only soap; (3) no plug for the basin (4) the room was hot but it was impossible to keep the window in the open position to cool it down.

In addition to the issue of bells, you should be aware that rooms facing the front can also be noisy from rowdy people outside well into the night and traffic from early morning. This was my experience last night (a Friday).

Finally the hotel sells itself as Hungary’s oldest. As mentioned the exterior lives up to this but the interior sadly has no sign of any antiquity. Flooring is tiles and there is some really awful probably communist-era furniture.

Such a pity - it could be so nice. On the bells they should ask the church whether they couldn’t delay the day’s first ringing until 7am. And in the meantime they need to be honest about the issue.
