Thank you so much Fiona and Richard for the most wonderful catered chalet experience.  Attention to detail like you rarely experience. Beautiful chalet that has been hand built, with luxury in every corner. The food is amazing (bring elastic pants).  Excellent wines with dinner and wide range of drinks in a very fair honesty bar for pre and post dinner, not that you need it! 
The location is great. Slightly out of town but the chauffeur service offered is so convenient and because most places in the area here are chalet style,  the apre is around 4- 6.30pm which fits with dinner at 7:30pm.  No need to venture out again when you have a full belly, a roaring fire and like minded people to chat to.  
The skiing is great, get a full pass which will take you across 2-3 skiing areas including skiing to Switzerland.  There are some nice restaurants in Morzine but nothing compares to the food that Richard prepares every night, just delightful. 
Highly recommend on every level.  Perfect for couples, groups, families - 
If you are thinking of a skiing holiday in Morzine and are contemplating this chalet, just book you won’t regret it.

Gourmet Delight

If you are looking for a chalet in Morzine look no further than the Chalet du Chene! We - a party of 10 friends -  have had the most fabulous week there. The accommodation is truly lovely and beautifully appointed. The hosts, Richard and Fiona, could not have been more welcoming and accommodating, with both spending time ferrying us around, taking us to the ski lift and picking us up afterwards. And I haven’t even mentioned the food yet!!!! Richard is a talented chef and the meals we had were absolutely excellent; innovative menus, truly delicious and beautifully presented. We could not have asked for more or improved on the week. Highly, highly recommended!

Wonderful week at the Chalet du Chene; highly recommended.

What a find! 
We stayed here March 2019 and had the most wonderful, luxurious ski holiday.
I was just dreaming about booking again for next year when I realised I hadn't written a review on here.
Firstly, I must say that for us it was Richard, the host, that made out stay at Chalet du Chene so incredibly special. From the moment we arrived (very late after delayed flights, which must have been a huge inconvenience for him) Richard couldn't have been more welcoming, accommodating and entertaining. He was always on hand to offer anything we needed such as lifts to and from the ski lifts in Morzine, advice on the local area through to the fine details such as delicious home made delicacies and refreshments on tap and the use of the wonderful hot tub after a hard day skiing, nothing was too much trouble.
As for the Chalet, the attention to detail was outstanding. I have my own holiday lets back in England and so have a critical eye for the small details, here nothing was overlooked.
Richard lovelyingly described how he and his wife had designed the chalet themselves and it really showed in the quirky, stylish quality of this property.
While the bedrooms were quite small, they were cosy, well set out and had everything one could need to feel at home right away. All the bedrooms in the chalet were different and had their own unique 'personalities'. 
The communal areas allowed guests to socialise although there were plenty of quiet areas to relax and take in the beautiful scenery around the proper also. 
Richard is a very accomplished chef and every meal was delicious and meticulously thought out and presented. We couldn't fault it. 
Morzine itself wasn't far away and would have been an enjoyable walk however we never had to do this as Richard was always keen to take and collect us whenever we needed.
There were plenty of places to eat out in town or enjoy some lively après-ski drinks. Morzine is lovely full of rich history and character. 
In short, this is a beautiful, well equipped chalet with that extra 'je ne sais quoi' that we all strive to find when booking a holiday. 
All in all we had the most wonderful time at Chalet du Chene and can't wait to go back.  Thank you Richard. 


Most wonderful week relaxing and skiing

This was second visit to Chalet du chene hosted. Richard was yet again a wonderful host, the food was delicious with a good variety of dinner each night. The beds were very comfortable and rooms luxurious. We have already booked for 2020. 

Bruges babes skiing break

The location is a great. Its a lovelly short walk into Morzine town. Has wonderful mountain views. 100% alps luxury! Went to Morzine for my birthday and they recommended a fabulous restaurant in Morzine (la chaudanne) where I had the best dessert ever! They even suggested and arranged a visit to a wedding venue in Morzine for me and my fiance which was magical! I couldn't recommend this chalet enough!

Richard has absolutely nailed chalet hospitality- having skiied all over the Alpes for 30 years and been a veteran of the portes de soleil ski area chalets for 10 of these I can honestly say this is the best I've been to - anywhere. The generosity of the chalet design with all its beauty and thoughtful touches is totally matched by the generosity, care, professionalism and sense of humour of Richard and his hosts Ronan and Sophie. Thoroughly recommended - especially for couples and adults who enjoy spectacularly good cuisine. 

Ski break

We stayed at Chalet du Chene in late September and early October and enjoyed near perfect autumn weather - sunny days, blue skies, and the tree covered mountains resplendent in their autumn colours. Much of this was viewed at extreme leisure from the balcony and garden with coffee/beer/wine in hand at most times of the day - the spectactular views the chalet enjoys really make this a great place to relax and unwind. When not on the balcony the chalet itself is stunning - lovingly designed and built by Richard and Fiona, the chalet is a very stylish and beautiful oak framed building, with all the comforts you could wish for.

Morzine is a great location at this time of year for hiking and taking in the gorgeous alpine views. Richard was an amazing host - very friendly and entertaining, and he had much advice for us which allowed us to maximise our enjoyment of the area.

Cannot recomend Chalet du Chene enough.

Spectactular autumn mountain views!

I had heard of GourmetSki a fair few years ago and had always wanted to visit so when the opportunity arose we jumped at it. Originally, the owners, Richard & Fiona, had another chalet in Montriond but have since downsized after building this beautiful chalet in Morzine. The property itself is fantastic with lots of attention to detail as well as 'top end' furnishings to make you feel at home (if only home was so luxurious!!). There are 5 bedrooms, a central dining/lounge area, a large kitchen and a games room which means plenty of room for everyone, even at full capacity.

On arrival we were met by our chalet host Sian and Chef Lucy who from the start could not do enough to ensure we had the most amazing holiday. 

I guess the clue is in the name, but I hadn't imagined that the food would be as good as it was. Lucy would prepare fresh canapés pre dinner before presenting a five course meal every night (excluding her night off), the standard of which was comparable to what some top restaurants offer. This was accompanied by the lovely Sian keeping everyone's wine and drinks topped up as well as offering advice and tips about the resort. 

It was also the other little touches that differentiated Chalet du Chene from its competitors....they have two lockers at the bottom of Pleney ski lift so you don't have to hike your boots and skis back nightly (it also makes apres ski more comfortable!!). They also do a lift service to and from Morzine/Les Gets which means you don't have to rely on ski buses to get around the resort. There is a hot tub outside which was used frequently by all the guests and a great way to chill after a day on the slopes. 

To conclude, the combination of a beautiful chalet, great staff and amazing food and hospitality is a winning formula and I applaud Richard & Fiona on bringing it all together! I look forward to staying again in the future!
