We had one very special day and night in Chartres. Our room was nicely decorated, with a small outdoor terrace. Carol our host was very helpful with recommendations for dinner.  Incredible visit to the Cathedral both daytime and during the evening laiser light show, Chartes en Lumieres.  Lovely breakfast in the morning.  Wonderful stay, thank you Carol.

Tasteful lodging, delightful host

We stayed one night at Carole's Colored Staircase during our weekend in Chartres. Not to be confused! Carole was very warm and kind to help us organize our weekend. The room was beautiful, bright, decorated with great taste and we slept very well there! Breakfast was delicious, a good way to start the day. Very well located this guest house allowed us to visit everything on foot. A perfect stay, go there with your eyes closed!

It's a lovely little stopover.

We were on our way to the French Alps and decided to stop off in Chartres to see the Cathedral.  We stayed in Carole’s guest house for a couple of nights.  What a great find!  Carole’s main objective is to ensure that her guests enjoy the experience... and she definitely manages to do that!  First, the guest house.  Our bedroom, the Terre Ombré, was lovely.  Very well equipped with everything you could want in a room.  Nice layout with plenty of space for our bags.  There are 3 other rooms, all very nicely proportioned and each different.  The guest house is right in the middle of Chartres with easy access to all attractions, restaurants, bars, etc.  Carole was also very helpful with advice on restaurants/what to do etc.  And her English was excellent.  We will definitely stay here again when we are returning to France.  Very happy with our choice on this occasion!

A great find in the heart of Chartres!

Located in the city centre, with parking (paid) nearby, this guest house deserves to be remembered for a pleasant and relaxing stay. The hostess is extremely welcoming. She has managed to arrange her interior with a lot of refinement. The bed is comfortable, breakfast is varied and prepared carefully. We strongly recommend the staircase in colour in Chartres.

For a great stay!

This is a fantastic place to stay in Chartres. Carole is very charming with excellent English and looks after you so well in her beautiful appointed rooms. A delicious breakfast is included and is served in her bright and interesting top floor dining room. It’s right in the centre of the city just 5 mins walk from the Cathedral. Parking is easy with a large underground car park opposite. Would we recommend it - yes. Would we go back there - like a shot. Thank you Carole for a very enjoyable stay.

Carole welcomed us very kindly and provided us with many good tips for the city and restaurants. The spacious room was very nicely furnished and is located in a house right on the edge of the old town. There is a guest lounge, the beds were very comfortable and the French breakfast was lovingly served. Excellent for a stop on the long journey. Even better for a slightly longer stay, since Chartres and surroundings have a lot to offer.

Nice boarding house on the edge of the old town

This is a lovely guest house, and the hostess Carole was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room itself was perfect, with a little kitchen area and it’s own private entrance. We were able to leave our bicycles inside the entrance room. She also had coffee and water available in the entrance room for guests. The breakfast again was perfect. The whole house is lovely.

Can’t fault!

This was a delightful accommodation for me, my wife and our adult daughter. The BNB is creatively designed and welcoming.  The details and amenities are first rate. The breakfast was terrific and was chatting with Carole, a native of Chatres. Carole is a wonderful host and helped us with parking our car, seeing the sights. She made us feel welcomed in every way. The BNB is an easy walk to all the sights. We recommend it in every way.

A wonderful stay in a wonderful town

The location in the heart of Chartres is excellent. A special praise deserves the friendly and helpful hostess. In fact, you feel like a guest with good friends. The whole house is very lovingly furnished. I highly recommend it.

Family boarding house with loving facilities

Thank you to Carole for her warm welcome in her so beautiful house. Located in the centre of Chartres in the pedestrian zone, our stay was very pleasant. Very nice room, beautifully decorated like the rest of the house, beautiful bathroom. A little French dej served in our host's apartments, also very pleasant. Do not hesitate to contact Carole who will give you her good restaurant advice! In short, if we return as a duo, it is at L'Escale en Colors that we will stay!
