Carpe Diem Split

This apartment has an excellent location literally 2 minutes walk to the palace and a 5-10 minute walk to the Riva. The apartment is in a quiet residential neighborhood. To get to the apartment, you must walk up three flights of stairs. The apartment has two comfortable beds and a futon. It has adequate closet space and convenient window shelves next to the beds. The kitchen is basic, but well stocked. The only thing missing was a kettle. The bathroom is tiny but has everything you need including a hair dryer. The large screen tv has cable with some English language channels. Be ready to learn Croatian through subtitles! ;) The wifi was fast and easy to use. For supplies, there is a small supermarket 20 yards away. If you plan to do laundry in the apartment, there is a washing machine (no English instructions) but no dryer; ask for a drying rack. Be sure to bring your own washcloth, bar soap and plan on buying your own laundry powder. Katarina, the owner, was friendly and responsive to our needs. We booked directly with the owner and therefore had to wire a cash (in Euros) deposit and pay in cash (Euros) when we arrived. We received a receipt for our payment. Don't be surprised if apartment owners ask to copy down the details from your passport. Apparently this is required in Croatia. The apartment owner in Dubrovnik also asked for our passports. We stayed for a week, we loved Split, and the apartment was a great base for many day trips. Overall this apartment was a great value.
