Sleeping Indian Guest House

I love the Sleeping Indian.  It has chill vibes, a kitchen, and comfortable rooms.  Heidy has a beautiful heart and she will help you with anything you need.  From the Sleeping Indian, you can walk to the park, do some shopping, hit up the grocery store or grab dinner and drinks.  This place is great.

My husband have a great time there, is the perfect place if you don't have a car, and want to be close restaurants, super markets, etc.
One block from the bus station, is very convinient to walk around town. 
Peter and Heidy are very open to gave you all the sugestions you can need. 
We apresiate to be able to cook there, and have a glass of wine at the front balcony watching the life on the little town pasing by.

Due to its  location right in downtown things are easy to get as stores, restaurants and markets are at reach. The hostess Heidy is really gentil and willing to answer your questions regarding what to do and the best and honest recommendations. The place is clean and homly, decorated by paintings done by Heidy who is also an artist; you can feel really confty in hammoks at the common area which gives the house a comfortable and warm environment. Rooms are neat; rooms have wide windows and 
a fan as La Fortuna might get really hot sometimes. Two balconies and one shared kitchen. A continental breakfast is included in price at a nearby restaurant. Me and my wife enjoyed very much our stay at Sleeping Indian. We felt like home!

I only stayed in La Fortuna for two nights, but I really enjoyed my stay.  The rooms were immaculate and lovely, Heidy and Cristal were helpful and friendly, and the common areas is a comfortable place to hang out and talk with other guests. A simple breakfast of coffee/juice, tea, and toast was included at a local restaurant, which was perfect for me.  The location is a couple of blocks from the train station and right n the middle of town, so it's convenient.  I heard some of the front rooms were a bit loud with noise from the street, but I didn't have any problems.  The staff did offer earplugs if needed. They also helped with booking tours and got me a good discount.

My wife enjoyed staying at Sleeping Indian while visiting La Fortuna for a few nights. It was clean, comfortable, and safe - within an easy walk to most restaurants and shops around the town center. Great shared amenities, with a separate bathroom for each room. Heidy and her hostess were very friendly and accommodating, and eager to give advice about local eateries and places of interest. 

Lots of books, including local travel guides, as well as board games, were available. A nice balcony overlooks the town center and Arenal volcano in the distance. A bit noisy at times due to its central location, however the owners graciously provide a basket of ear plugs for sensitive sleepers. Although there is no a/c, fans are provided and there are nice cross breezes (although it necessitates opening the window and letting in more outside noise).

Overall, my wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Sleeping Indian, and look forward to returning some day. It's a great choice for budget travelers who don't want to sacrifice comfort and safety in order to travel economically.

A Cozy and Comfortable Multi-Unit Guest House in the Heart of La Fortuna

Comfortable and convenient with a friendly, cool vibe

While most reactions brag about the nice vibe and the friendliness of the owner and the manager of this hotel, the main feature of the place for me is the NOISE. The traffic accelerates as it passes by, especially trucks and bikes, and at night the bar next door is responsible for extra noise. It is by far the noisiest place I have ever been to. 
I booked and paid 2 nights, but asked after the first night for a refund so I could book another hotel. While emails were answered very quickly when booking, answer in this case took a long time coming. After 2 emails were not answered, I phoned and got to hear that this the owner’s decision and he is not answering. A half hour later I received an answer that they will not give a refund, Highly unsympathetic – it was not a  complicated booking site transaction, I paid cash and it would have been the friendly thing to simply refund.
The lesson is: even if you intend staying a few day, pay only 1 night, that would give you the option to move out if you can’t handle the noise.
I was offered to move to room number 4, that is further away from the road. However, room number 4 was definitely not quieter. A month earlier a bar was opened, en while the manager told me the bar closed down at midnight, the music and talking went on till the small hours of the night. 
The assertion that “we are in the middle of town and therefore it is hard to avoid noise” is only partly true – I visited a few places nearby and while all were centrally located the rooms were further away from the street and more quite.
