Pousada da Luz Carapibus

We stayed at Pousada da Luz in March 2015 and loved it. There are lots of options for accommodation in the area, but this for us was the perfect location. The rooms are set in a wonderful green, tree-filled garden above a lovely beach with fabulous views out over the sea. It's a tranquil spot with nothing to disturb you except the sound of the waves below. The owner Patricia speaks excellent English and we were welcomed like old friends and made to feel completely at home. Her staff are equally warm and friendly, and while they don't speak much English, this didn't matter at all, as they went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and we managed just fine with basic Spanish and lots of mime! We ate a lovely breakfast of fruits and cereal, eggs and other local specialities each morning. There are not many options for restaurants in the area if you don't have a car, but the Pousada itself has a varied menu of very reasonably priced dishes, and we ate well each night in the lovely garden setting and it would be hard to find a better spot. The local grilled fish with a selection of vegetables was a particular favourite, and a very generous helping for two. The beach just below the Pousada is a lovely spot, with a couple of laid-back bars, and the beaches stretch for 12 kms in each direction. We had a wonderful day walking to some of the most beautiful coastline in this region, stopping to dip in the sea when the fancy took us. If you're heading to this part of Brazil we thoroughly recommend this wonderful Pousada.
