Clare Cottage

Clare Cottage is to die for. Susie’s hospitality is unsurpassable, her breakfasts classic, her rooms comfortable, her garden beautiful and welcoming. 

I particularly enjoyed the “slipper” tub in my room, the most comfortable, fully reclining baths I’ve ever had. 

Sherborne is a beautiful town, and Clare Cottage is a perfect place to explore it from.

I wanted to stay somewhere lovely and super comfortable for six days in February, just in case it poured with rain. But it didn’t. Hooray. 

Susie has an eye for beauty. She also makes an excellent breakfast and is very generous with her time and her recommendations of places to visit (food and otherwise). 

The cottage is beautifully decorated and super cosy. I’m so glad I stayed here and I will definitely be back when the natural world is awake again.

The flagstone floor, oak beam, and real fire in the dining room exemplify the authenticity of this house, but the same feel runs through the whole place. The house dates back to the 1600s and has dozens of historical features, but the bed was super-comfortable and the wifi worked 100%. Susie’s breakfast is second to none, and the tea and coffee in the room is top quality.  And it’s a stone’s throw from the historic cathedral and exquisite old town: altogether truly excellent!

Very welcoming from the start. Susie was a Great host and the cottage is loverly. The Blue room we stayed in was very well equipped and the large bed  was very comfortable and both of us had a Great nights sleep.
Breakfast was cooked to what ever you requested and the presentation was was great. Overall a fantastic place to stay just minutes away from the centre of Sherborne a great place to come and enjoy. 

We have just returned from an excellent five night stay at Clare Cottage. It certainly  "ticks all the boxes" for a short break in Sherborne. It has private off-street parking, is situated just a 3/4 minute walk from the Abbey and High Street, the bedrooms are immaculate and very comfortable, the breakfasts are superb and Susie is a very warm, approachable and considerate host. She made us feel very much at home in her lovely cottage. It is an ideal venue from which to explore this delightful town and the surrounding countryside. We will certainly return when visiting the area.

I honestly have nothing adverse to say about this property and its charming and helpful hostess. Our room was large, furnished to a very high standard and was exceptionally clean and tidy. The "Garden Room" had direct access to the outside for evening relaxation. The property is a bit hidden being set back from the road amongst a group of cottages with their own parking area. House numberings are odd (229 at the low number end of the road?) but just look out for the catholic church that is on the opposite side of the road. Breakfast was faultless, high quality produce cooked well. We definitely hope to return.

Lovely home and lovely streetscape to walk

Great location to explore Sherborne and surrounding area. We stayed in the beautiful garden room for two nights and enjoyed the wonderful breakfast each morning. Susie is a super host and made us very welcome. We will definitely return.

The Cottage is beautifully furnished and very welcoming.  We had a huge comfy bed with every luxury in the room.  Breakfast was perfect and Suzie is a wonderful host.  We would definitely stay there again if we return to Sherborne.

A beautiful cottage built in the 1600s. Run and owned by the wonderful Susie. I was made welcome from the start. I stayed for 2 nights in the back bedroom overlooking the lovely garden. Lovely breakfasts and I will definitely stay again when I visit the area again!!

A Sherborne gem

We stayed in the Blue Room for 2 nights.
The bed, which was huge & pillows were very comfortable.
The free standing bath in the room was a real treat as were the coffee maker & china tea cups.
Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of hot & cold food available.
Susie was a very good host & here homemade shortbread & jams were delicious.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Clare Cottage as an ideal place to explore Sherborne from.

A very pleasant B & B

Two of us stayed for two nights. Very comfortable, airy and large bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space. We stayed in the garden room which has direct access to the garden with a private little patio just outside the door. A lovely bathroom is situated just outside out bedroom door and was for our use only. 
It was a heatwave and we brought a fan. The room was then reasonably cool as the host had very thoughtfully left windows open and curtains drawn.
We had breakfast in a lovely shady part of the garden. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and very yummy. 
The host reserved a parking space for us directly outside the house.
The B&B is just a few minutes walk from the town centre. Sherborne Abby is worth a visit, founded 750 AD.
We had cream tea at Kafe Fontana which was very nice and super cappuccinos.
We had dinner at the Green restaurant. Fabulous  food and nice people. 
Should we come back to Sherborne there would be no reason to look for anywhere different to stay!

Perfect place to stay in Sherborne.

Every bit as good as I remember from a previous stay, four years ago!

Susie was very welcoming and helpful, and made the stay and excellent one. The room was as charming as before, with a good night's sleep, despite the warm weather. The outside seating with table was a delight - such a peaceful feel when spendig time there of an evening. 

The breakfast was a highlight once more. Well-chosen slices of fruit complemented the cereal pefectly; and the cooked meal to follow was exemplary. 

No need to look any further for accommodation in Sherborne, should there be space when in town!

Another excellent stay...

Wow this b&b is beautiful, we stayed for 2 nights over the bank holiday,  the room was beautiful with its own private patio, the bathroom was so nice the bath was so big felt like I was floating in there, well what can I say about the breakfast, best we have had homemade almond croissants home made marmalade, the scrambled egg was out of this world and the host was so lovely warm and friendly, I can't praise this place enough we will deffinately be going back
