Holmebridge House

Fantastic stay at Holmebridge House.  Great base for Jurassic coast and lots of lovely local places to see.  Look out for the deer in the field.  Durdle Door an absolute must.
Wonderful breakfast and lovely homemade croissants. 

When we booked, we did not realise that the B&B was on a very busy road so we were a bit apprehensive as our house is very quiet. Brian was there to welcome us in the car park. Anita appeared shortly afterwards. It was a very friendly welcome and we were welcomed by name which was nice. Anita showed us to our room. I think it was room 2 which was at the front of the house. It was a large room with 2 armchairs and a coffee table, wardrobe and huge comfy bed. There was tea/coffee making facilities, water and some fresh milk was left for us in a small flask (not forgetting some biscuits). There was a large bathroom attached with a walk in shower, the usual WC and sink and a dressing table with a large mirror above and a smaller one on the table. Great views of the field at the back and a tree with a birdfeeder - we saw a woodpecker and many other little birds during our stay. The windows are double glazed and we were very comfortable, completely unaware of the road during the day and it really quietens down at night. We both slept very well, nice bedding, good pillows, good table lamps to read by (as well as wall lights above the bed). There was a full length mirror which was useful as we were staying there to go to a wedding. 

There is a menu for breakfast - Brian and Anita prefer you to order the night before. My smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was just perfect (and if I wanted to be picky, too much smoked salmon and it was great quality - none of that cheap sweaty smoked salmon that you occasionally get), eggs were still slightly wet which is just the way I wanted them. Hubby enjoyed his bacon and eggs, again all perfectly cooked. There was homemade marmelade on the table and we were also offered some of Anita's strawberry jam the following day (or maybe did not spot it on day one). There is also a small selection of breakfast cereals, muesli, some fresh fruits, yogurts etc. All of it beautiful! And proper napkins! The following day I had freshly baked croissants (yummy!) and hubby had the perfect scrambled eggs (did I mention that the bread is also excellent?). 

Brian suggested we visited a nearby village which was requisitioned by the army in 1943 and it was a perfect suggestion for us. So good hosts who know the area well and listen to their guests and make appropriate suggestions.

We had forgotten some bathroom essentials and shampoo, conditioner and shower gels are all provided in the bathroom. Forgot to mention wifi is available and there is also a TV in the bedroom and some USB charging points.

Overall, it was one of the best stays that we have ever had.

Holmebridge House is probably the best bed and breakfast we've ever booked. Anita and Brian were excellent hosts, and provided information about local places of interest and recommendations for local restaurants and pubs. We booked room 1 which was beautifully decorated, had an incredibly comfortable bed and a large en-suite with shower. Breakfast each morning was superb and cooked to perfection.

Holmebridge House is an absolute gem - miss it at your peril!

We've recently returned from a delightful 5 night stay at Holmbridge House. Our room (3) was cosy and well maintained and the en-suite was spotless. The room overlooks a large acreage of flat field fringed by forest which is home to a variety of wildlife: we saw deer, a fox, a hare and numerous bird species.
Brian and Anita were perfect hosts and had a wealth of helpful, local information and their home made bread and garden produce made their filling breakfasts even more delicious!
Dorset is a walker's paradise. Holmbridge House is about 1.5 miles from Wareham but a road without a pavement and no footpath means that car, bus or taxi are needed to get out and about, however, stunning coastal walks, with pretty coves and picturesque villages are only 15 mins drive away. Lulworth Cove, Kimmeridge, Corfe Castle, Tyneham, Worth Matravers are all beautiful. We'll be back!

Fantastic 2 night stay at Holmebridge House. Everything was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was big with a good shower. Anita and Brian are very friendly and welcoming. The house backs onto a field with deer and has a lovely garden. We will be back soon!
