Beautiful cabin and surroundings very cosy. Excellent walks on the door step. Moments away from the lake shore too. The kids loved the tree rope swings down there too. Hot tub amazing. Only thing to note is the description states there is a washing machine in the lodge but there isn’t. Would highly recommend for a relaxing stay..

We stayed in Acorn 2 bedroom lodge with en-suite shower room and family bathroom with bath.
The lodge was homely with great reclining sofas and a will stocked kitchen for self catering. The setting of the outdoor hot tub was beautiful and private and also had a fire pit area. The lodge had a washing machine that we wasn’t aware of before booking and also they supplied washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and showering products plus towels and bedding as advertised.

We walked some of the easier walks with the kids over at Tarn how’s, Orrest head and grizedale forest which they also enjoyed the tree top adventure course at. 

We visited coniston that was 15 mins away and the lake and town are stunning. You can walk to the bottom of the lake through a field opposite the lodge park. It looks like you could take the boat from the jetty there in to the centre of coniston if you didn’t wish to drive and it looked like you could enjoy swimming/paddling in many areas surrounding the lake.

We visited the blue bird cafe on the lake which was fab as always. We also ate lunch at Herdwicks in the centre which was also very good and we visited a bakery around 10 mins away called bake house born and bread and they have some fabulous cakes and baked goods plus a tasty eating in menu so would recommend and all three was dog friendly.

A fantastic stay and would recommend and would definitely stay again when in the area.

Lovely lodge. Snug but perfectly workable for 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog. Very cosy and warm. Free WiFi. Smart TV with netflix and the like to log into. 3 seater sofa and a comfy chair to relax in. 4 seater dining table. Kitchen with fridge freezer, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, sink and washing machine. No dishwasher or clothes dryer but this was known beforehand. Nice sized shower. 1 nice sized double bedroom with a large wardrobe, hair dryer and clothes horse and a very snug twin room. 

Lovely little honesty cupboard with cakes and jams etc on site. Bin and recycling facilities also on site. 

Location is wonderful. Really close to coniston lake and with sheep etc just roaming around, this was just perfect. Really peaceful and quiet. 

Really lovely holiday Park, the lodge was lovely well equipped cosy and clean, hot tub was lovely , only slight downside to the hot tub was getting in and out of it, but did nt prevent me from going in, Owners are lovely and even helped us one evening when the roads around the area were closed and we were struggling to get back , Little snack hut on the entrance was lovely had some lovely tiffin and stuff from there would definitely recommend ideally located

Just got back from 3 nights staying in the Acorn Retreat lodge in Crake Valley and the only complaint we had was that it wasn’t long enough! We had an amazing time. The park is lovely and quiet, very well kept with just lots of woodland all around and Acorn Retreat couldn’t have been more perfect for us. It was so secluded, we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere! The pictures on hoseasons don’t do it justice, the lodge and surroundings are much more beautiful in person. The lodge itself is lived in so in part a little bit rough around the edges but nothing you can’t get over and it was very clean and well equipped. We loved sitting in the hot tub looking out at the scenery and woodland. We visited Coniston lake from a few different places by car but preferred to just walk over from the cabin over the road as it was a lot more quiet and we had a little cove to ourselves to swim from. Staying on that park and by that part of the lake, you really wouldn’t believe it was school summer holidays in August, it was that tranquil. The whole break from start to finish was perfect and we can’t wait to go back next year for a week.

We had such a lovely stay at Crake Valley. Our lodge was spotless and we all enjoyed using the hot tub! The beds are so comfy and the quality of the furniture, bathrooms etc is a step above your typical holiday lodge. We liked the fact that Coniston lake is just across the road… our dogs loved swimming in there!  A useful addition was a ‘warm water’ hosepipe outside the lodge for you to clean your dogs afterwards! Thank you for such a lovely stay… we shall be back!  Ps. The Wilson Arms at Tover had delicious food, plus the Bluebird cafe overlooking Coniston lake (stunning!) Can also recommend the Red Lion at Lowick bridge for nice food and a friendly welcome! We loved our stay here. 🥰

Our 5th year in a row here and a lovely escape over Christmas. The grounds and the cabin (acorn retreat) are immaculate and clearly very well kept. 

Upon entry a Christmas gift of Buck’s Fizz, gingerbread house and dog treats had been left for us which is a brilliant touch. 

The improvements to the hot tub area are very much appreciated as it is now easier to enter and exit the hot tub. One suggestion which is absolutely no fault of any bodies but when it was heavy or constant raining it reduced our time in the hot tub. I believe I saw a gazebo over the hot tub at a nearby cabin so perhaps one for Acorn Retreat for when there is bad weather. 

Overall another fantastic and well needed stay and I will be booking again for some time this year very soon.

Stayed for weekend in Tarn Hows as a couple with a dog. Was a bit worried looking at previous review but I dont agree with it. We had a great time and will return here and I've been going on these types of holidays for 12 years. Hot tub was amazing, extremely private with a cover over with even a perspex window in middle so you can see stars on a night. the lights worked for us. Bedroom great - big bed but no TV but didnt bother us. We had plenty of storage space. Bathroom was huge and yes the shower did tend to overflow onto the wet room floor but they leave you a bucket and mop in the room and it was only a bit not flooded. There was a freestanding bath however flow was very poor so it may take an hour if you want a bath by the time it fills up. Little toiletries provided i.e. shampoo conditioner body lotion and shower gel. Kitchen fine for us - no washer or dishwasher. Fridge freezer compartment door didnt fall off for us. Small freezer part so dont take much frozen food. Washing up liquid provided along with sponge and tea towel. Lots of pots pans etc for a small lodge it had over enough to be honest. Yes storage for kitchen was a bit cramped but wasnt a major issue. No probs with TV. Lovely extra touch of fan which we used. Very very tranquil place you could hear a pin drop at times. We walked up Blawith Common behind lodges - only takes 5 mins and view is amazing. Very clean site. Only over road from one part of coniston water - our dog loved that!! To sum it up we had no issues at all, it was so clean inside and outside lodge, lovely little honesty cupboard on site, walks on doorstep. We will return for sure.Only one tip I can share - the cabin is not fenced or gated in so if you take a dog and it wanders you would need to tie it up. Not an issue for us as our dog doesnt wander

Lake bank lodge is a home from home absolutely beautiful,  just a few niggles nothing drastic it says a few steps a bit more than thar me and my grandson have mobility issues and found it hard what things I would suggest is a railing from top to bottom of the gravel stairs to help and also railings near hot tub these aren't complaints they are suggestions to improve your stay as we love it there celebrating my husband's 60th birthday

The Cedars

Stayed here for 3 night and what a lovely peaceful break we had ! The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of walks ! The staff are very helpful. The lodge was impressive with fully equipped kitchen and wonderful hot tub to relax in. The only minor issue we had is that in the master bedroom it is full of damp with a bad smell and as my dad is asthmatic this was a worry . I do feel as though there needs to be more light around the site as it does get very dark but also the sign at the entrance needs a light as this can easily be missed.However this won’t stop us coming in the future!!

Lovely tranquil break in Acorn Retreat

A fabulous stay! 

We had a fab stay here. We booked for 3 nights but unfortunately due to personal reasons we had to leave after 2 nights. The lodge had everything you needed and more. Plenty of room for the two of us plus dog. Think it may of been a squeeze if there was 4x people in the lodge. The hot tub was lovely only issue would be wish it was a little bit more private but wasn't too much of a problem. We loved our stay as did our dog. Shame the weather wasn't the best for not the lodges fault. Also location seemed a bit way out for things nearby but possibly if the weather was better we could of explored more. But overall we had a great time. I also loved the contactless check in. 

Great lodge - had a fab stay here 

Without a doubt, the lodge was truly lovely. The company, however, fail to read the visitor book and the reviews and therefore nothing is improved: the steps up to the lodge are extremely dangerous as the shale needs to be made more safe. There is no cooking spatula; branches scrape the lodge roof when windy; there is a broken blind in kitchen - all not attended to, despite many complaints. The crockery was poor with no matching sets. There were insufficient glasses (a broken wine glass left in cupboard), if four people stay, there is insufficient crockery. There is a tea pot but no milk jug. The lodge needs a fan as the upstairs bedroom is very hot. We also felt that the balcony, table and chairs also needed to be cleaned prior to our arrival. We arrived to sweep up leaves and clean the table and chairs - unacceptable when paying luxury prices. Let us hope the company read and take on board these comments and rectify the problems.

A surprising find! Quiet and peaceful. The Cedars lodge and hot tub sat above the rest and had great privacy.

Lovely hidden gem if you want to get away from the busier parts of the lakes. I gave it 4 star than 5 just because of the bed in the main bedroom. I'm not picky but one side of the bed dipped which felt like you was falling out of bed. Not good for the back really.
Overall the lodge has everything you need for a self catering week. Was a nice touch to also have some supplies of tea bags, coffee, sachets of milk, washing up liquid, sponge and a tea towel. There was even bin bags, hoover, washer and clothes airer so all was perfect other than the bed.
Down the drive and across the road is the tip of the lake. You can go through the field but there's sheep or you can follow the path around which also takes to to the lake. Our dog loved this twice per day.
You do need to drive to a pub or shop though but if you're to travel the lakes it's perfect
