We had an amazing stay at The Nare and can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, we arrived late and the chef still cooked for us.

The room was absolutely spotless, probably one of the cleanest hotel rooms we’ve ever stayed in, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Waking up to those stunning sea views was a real treat!

The food was fantastic, but the desserts really stood out—there was such a great selection, and every single one we tried was delicious. Definitely worth saving room for!

Everything about The Nare made for a perfect getaway, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.P

Everyone said that The Nare is wonderful at Christmas and it is. If you ever get chance to stay there then do. We’ve stayed at many hotels all over the world at Christmas and The Nare is the best.

This wasn't the first time we have stayed at the Nare. It is a favourite of ours and never fails to impress. This time, we stayed in one of the newest rooms which has it's own hot tub and I can honestly say that every element of our visit was outstanding. The food was excellent and there was a huge choice with changing menus each night. The hors d'oeuvres trolley and dessert trolley are both something to really look forward to. They are beautifully presented and served by very professional and knowledgeable  staff and it is the staff members who make the hotel really special.  I should also mention that there is now the very welcome facility to dine with your dog at both breakfast and dinner, in an area of the Quarterdeck restaurant and our dog very much appreciated his breakfast sausage. The Nare and it's staff offer a level of comfort which is truly rare, even in the very best hotels.  In conclusion, if you like things done properly with good, old fashioned hospitality then the Nare is for you - it isn't cheap but it is worth the money.  If you want trendy and 'down with the kids', go to the Scarlet!

For those that bleat about …… British standards slipping, please sleep soundly in your beds , there is a beautiful spot known as The Nare where everything is as it should be.
Yes it’s got a slightly old fashioned vibe to it , but that’s what’s it all about, good old fashioned hospitality at its best.
The staff were all so genuinely pleasant and engaging.
The hotel is beautiful, beds huge and comfortable, our son loved the indoor pool and hot tub.
I can’t understand the previous reviewer that knocked the food.
We are a farming family that relish quality produce and how it’s presented, here the food was perfectly cooked and delicious .
Attention to detail and customer service is brilliant.
We overheard that a ladies train had been cancelled, so the hotel drove her to Exeter to catch another train.
The perfect setting overlooking Carne beach must be the best positioned hotel in this country, I had some great pre breakfast walks along the deserted beach.

The Nare sits in the most amazing setting with spectacular views across Carne Beach to Nare Head in one direction, and across to Portscatho and beyond in the other. These are beautiful whatever the weather.
The whole team should be commended for their part in making a stay here so special. The atmosphere created is one of refined luxury. Everything from check in, the bedrooms, the afternoon tea, the public rooms, the pre dinner drinks, the dining room service, and not least the food, are all of the highest standards and quality. No fault could be levied at any aspect of the stay.
We also used the indoor pool and spa pool, and on another day the outdoor hot tub….this was absolutely amazing, not least given its position overlooking the beach and Nare Head….a real luxurious treat on a freezing cold, bright, early March afternoon.
In summary we could not speak more highly of this hotel and the truly special luxurious experience it delivers.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay in this beautiful hotel.  With stunning views, superb food and attentive, friendly staff we wanted for nothing.  Put this together with the calm, friendly, traditional surrounding and we had no option but to relax and enjoy.

September weekend at the Nare. Attentive service, lovely bedroom with great sea views, delicious food served in a traditional dining room. Very calming environment with lots of opportunities to relax, including the traditional afternoon cream tea and cocktails before dinner in the drawing room.  Lovely outdoor pool and hot tub overlooking the beach. Highlight was a private charter and lunch on the Alice Rose motor boat.  

It is always a huge pleasure to return to The Nare, when we can afford it! But everything there is excellent and it is worth the money. Lovely comfortable rooms, beautifully decorated, true Country House ambience, exceptional food, great location with fine views, lovely walks and close to other places to visit.

Best Christmas ever!

Another fabulous stay at the Nare.

Great Britain at its best

this is the best hotel ever, lovely staff, delicious food, wonderful location but very sadly will not reuturn after 27 years because the stubborn attitude to small well behaved dogs is the same as if they were granny munching pit ponies and my small well behaved dog is charged £22 per day for being allowed only in the bedroom or my car.albeit given her supper (and a breakfast sausage!) and many fellow residents were qgreeing with me.  So goodbye lovely  Nare `hotel - the owners granny would never have allowed this.

The food, rooms, location and overall service by ALL the staff was top level and would certainly recommend a stay at this gem of a hotel.
The chauffeur service came into its own and much appreciated. Some great walks straight from the hotel, perhaps you’ll come across the Hidden Hut on your travels!

We had the most wonderful stay in a beautiful sea view room and have booked again for next year. Imagine ‘Sandy Lane’ as a country house Hotel in Cornwall and you’ll have some idea of how warm, friendly and inviting this beautiful place can be. The staff are amazing and you feel embraced as soon as you arrive. As soon as we met Matthew, he knew our names and he is an absolute credit to The Nare. The whole team are fantastic and any regular guests will be pleased to know that Ken and Barbara are still proving a hit in the cocktail lounge and everywhere! The menu changes each day and the food is without doubt the finest we’ve experienced in a long time. Beautiful choice, and served with style. Flambe’ is available every night, which adds a certain theatre to the experience…. The setting overlooks Carne beach and cannot be beaten. A huge thank you to everyone that made our stay so wonderful and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
