Excellent and kind attention to guest needs

If you are looking for a quaint old fashioned inn with character this is great for you.  We wanted a small inn with an old world feel and enjoyed our stay.  Rooms are clean, but also older and small.  Since this is what we expected we were more then happy with it.  Breakfast was easy and pleasant. Right across from the park and a short walk to the lake.No lift so if you have issues with stairs that could be a problem.Staff were very nice.

Denise is an excellent host. Room beautifully decorated and modern. Child friendly. Whole property is in excellent condition. Proprietor has spent a lot of time and money renovating the property to a high standard. Great breakfast, cooked whilst you wait - hot and fresh Highly recommend a stay here

Two nights in heaven. What a lovely place and a great location. Denise and her breakfast team are simply fabulous. The rooms although small was really comfy and very very clean. Breakfast was great with good quality food. Our room had a marvellous selection and plentiful.  If this was four in a bed it would be all 10s 

A very peaceful stay.

The Russell is at the back of Peasholm Park and is convenient for the Open Air Theatre. A walk to the seashore. Denise was welcoming and friendly. The beds were comfy and the room had 2 comfy chairs and plenty of drink making supplies.The breakfast was very good and served by a delightful young lady.  As a person with limited mobility I found the stairs steep but not unexpected in older properties. Parking was in the drive and we had to wait for someone to move their car but on street parking was available. I suggest a record car reg to room number would have helped. We enjoyed our stay and would book again. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable.

Nice quiet road. Close to the beach.  Just a short walk,but its a slight hill.  Convenient for outdoor theater. Fabulous breakfast, it kept us going most of the day.  Very little street noise. Definitely would book again.

Room was immaculate, recently refurbished, and the best single room i have stayed in. View was limited over driveway but not too close to next door and plenty of daylight in room, opposite Peasholme Park and parking was easy. Bus stop was around the corner. It felt a safe area to stay. Owners and guests were quiet and friendly ,no disturbancies from squeeky floorboards, toilets or  traffic. Breakfast was excellent . Dining room , lounge and hall were all tastefully refurbished . A lovely relaxing stay .

The loction was nice and safe.The room was just perfect and immaculate. Breakfast was superb.

Great location fantastic hosts and accommodation plus amazing breakfast.nothing is too much trouble.It's our second time here which says even more about it.

A delightful comfy hotel

THE RUSSELL

Booked a last minute 2 night stay at The Russell Hotel. Was pleasantly surprised by location and how lovely our room was overlooking the park. Bed was super comfy. Nice tea tray, would have liked some biscuits though. Breakfast was good and filling. Location is excellent for the north side of Scarborough and it’s easy to get a bus to the south side or like us you can walk!!! Too us over an hour from one side to the other. Be warned though that it’s all downhill from the hotel so be ready for the uphill walk. Would happily stay here again and would recommend to others. Thanks to Denise and staff for a lovely stay 

Beautifully present hidden gem

I have just returned from a weekend at the Russell with a friend and we had such a great time from the moment we arrived to when we sadly had to leave. We received the warmest of Yorkshire welcomes after a horrible journey.
The hotel has clearly undergone a lot of refurbishment since the photos on the website were taken and the owners have done a wonderful job. It really feels like home from home with a touch of luxury. The selection and quantity on the tea trays were more than generous. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of our single rooms, and one of the beds was a 3/4 too! 
Everywhere in the hotel was spotlessly clean and all of the staff were so lovely and friendly, clearly eager to provide the best guest experience. The breakfast was just perfect, was superior to those I have had at other hotels in Scarborough,and really set us up for a day exploring Scarbados.
With a lovely peaceful location opposite the lovely Peasholm Park, ease of parking ( quite rare in Scarborough!), warm welcome and yummy breakfast, it is the perfect place to stay. Frankly, I would have happily paid more for what is on offer here, and I will absolutely be back!

The Russell ticks all the boxes for a fabulous stay in Scarbados!

Lovely hotel in quiet location- ideal for events at the Scarborough open air theatre. It was spotlessly clean and a perfectly cooked tasty breakfast served by lovely, helpful friendly staff. Would highly recommend. Only improvements I would suggest are fans in the top floor rooms and definitely invest in the pump to improve the water pressure in the shower. Would definitely stay here again.

Gem of a hotel in a quiet and convenient location

We stayed for two nights at The Russell and had a really lovely time. Denise was friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size and our 4 year old loved having his own room with bunk beds (we were room 8 which was like a connecting room). Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, you order the hot food the day before. I had the most perfect poached eggs! Cereals are also available. Also, a shared lounge with plenty of games - great to chill out. Our son was so excited by The Chase game! A really good location, the nearby park is so beautiful and serene and it’s not too far to walk into the town. Would not hesitate in staying here again! Thank you Denise (and team) for your warm welcome and hospitality.

Lovely stay!

Me,my partner and my 7yr old son stayed at The Russell for 3 nights last week. A great location,a lovely view facing Peashome park & a 5 minute walk from the beach. We stayed in room 6 it was a spacious room,very clean.
Breakfast was beautiful & staff were very friendly. Free off road parking was a bonus. We will definitely be returning & I would recommend anyone to come here.

Great place to stay

I stayed in room 5 which seemed newly refurbished, the hotel manager and staff were very polite and friendly, I've stayed in premier inns in the past and for a quarter of the price this hotel is on the same level if not better.. the hotel is located at the top of peasholm park which is a short walk to the beach.
