Sunsuri Phuket

We had a fantastic two weeks at this hotel. We booked with Tui and opted for half board. This gave us the choice of either lunch or an evening meal and worked out as extremely good value. The hotel is built on a steep hill and every room would appear to give excellent views. Our room had lake and sea views, was spacious and the bed enormous. The pillows at this hotel are something else. The hotel supplied free water in the rooms and snacks / drinks from the mini bar were plentiful and good value. The rain shower was something else. The balcony was large with a large sofa and cushions to relax in. There’s a reliable buggy service to get you up to your rooms and back to the reception or the pool. There is transport to the beautiful nearby Nai Harn beach that leaves every hour. Every day we would tear ourselves away from the pool and visit the beach, stopping at the sea breeze café for a beer or coconut. We had lunch here on a couple of occasions, its linked with the hotel and so worth a visit. The staff are brilliant, from the reception to the restaurant staff to the buggy drivers I can’t thank them enough for making this holiday a really special occasion. There are a number of pools and we never had a problem getting a sun bed and shade. At the top of the Hotel hill you will see a small number of beautiful glass villas. For what I thought was exceptional value for money we upgraded for the last 5 nights to one of these Ocean View Villas. We had gorgeous sea views, our own private sizeable pool and total peace/ calm and tranquillity. Our initial room was great but this really took things to the next level and will be fondly remembered. The hotel never asked us if we wanted an upgrade it was simple idle curiosity that led us up the hill. Perhaps they should do more to sell these villas as most were empty when we were there. The restaurant was excellent and we ate there every night. They would have a different theme each night and over the two weeks we didn’t get bored with the food which was fresh, delicious and plentiful. Likewise breakfast was the same, I couldn’t fault it. The hotel had happy hours during the day and evening and the bar upstairs from the main restaurant was worth a visit. We had a massage in the hotel which we enjoyed and the hotel put on shuttle buses to various locations. The hotel is about an hour from the airport, traffic permitting. They have excellent security so we felt safe. If you have mobility issues then you may want to avoid the Sunsuri, there are numerous levels and many steps. That said the hotel will go out of their way to get you around using the buggys. Phuket is a lively and interesting place, you really wouldn’t go wrong by using the Sunsuri as your base. Oh yes and enquire about the Ocean view villas, even if its just for a night or two , they really are special.
