Safe location, clean rooms, extremely attentive staff. We were so happy to stay here before our flight back to the USA! Transportation was easy to get to the airport. Everyone was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed to feel comfortable. 

The KIA Lodge is like an oasis when one has a long layover at Kilimanjaro airport.  It's a very inexpensive taxi ride for just 2 kilometers.  We had an amazing lunch.  Left our luggage at reception.  Walked the property - beautiful.  Went into the shop and bought some things.  Taxi driver picked us up at agreed time.  Couldn't have been simpler and so refreshing between flights.  I give 10/10.

Perhaps the best thing about KIA LODGE is not that it is so close to the international airport, which of course it is, but that is so full of life. And by that I mean African wildlife!

Being near to the airport, which is relatively a “very quiet” airport by modern standards, means that there is a wonderful sense of space. This is enhance by the fact  that the Tanzanian government does not allow development near to this airport.

I am a lifelong Bird Watcher and tour guide who lived in Tanzania for twelve years (2005 to 2017). So I can confirm that KIA LODGE with all its birdlife is one of the very best places in the world for some quiet down time before an international flight or between bouts of exhausting safari work.

It’s so good there that you can record 40 species of bird, in only an hour before breakfast, just by sitting attentively beside the beautiful swimming pool, with a cup of coffee and binoculars to hand.

I highly recommend it. Recommend it to anybody who is seriously interested in birds and to anyone whose safari begins, or ends, with them requiring a night’s stay near to the international airport.

The best staff we had encountered during our time in Tanzania. The location to the airport is 5 minutes max. They arranged a shuttle for us at 3 AM along with packing a breakfast for us.
The rooms were large and the beds were large as well. The rooms had AC. We hung out at the bar for awhile which was the location that had wifi. It was a great place to relax before our flight!

“Very friendly staff and the room was big and clean. Breakfast is good. I had 1 dinner and this was late at evening but no problem for the staff and very delicious.”I had a free day and i didn't know what to do I found this guy Rasta is a young and lively guy who makes it easy to discover country and people. He has enabled us through his WhatsApp contacts +255762321353 to get to know native life even better and he took us to a wonderful Waterfall Coffee tour and Hotspring. Very good knowledge of English! He did not take much money & we had a lot of fun! Clear recommendation! :)

The lodge is actually located withing the borders of the airport.  It's only 1 km to the gates, so very convenient for an early morning flight.
The cabins are spread out over a big beautiful garden.  Walking around the garden is a safari on it's own - so many birds hang around the lush green setting.
The rooms are big, comfortable and fully equipped.  Meals are served in a beautiful restaurant.  The food is delicous and service is friendly and efficient.
And very important : there is no noise from the nearby airport !

Only a few minutes away from the Kilimanjaro Airport this gorgeous place is convenient and luxurious. You feel isolated in a very good way, the property is lush with plants and pathways. The bungalows are clean and spacious with strong water pressure (and hot water!). Accommodating staff that will take care of your needs, we had a 5 am free airport shuttle. Nice pool on a hill top with views of Mt Kilimanjaro too! 

Very quiet, lovely (and spotless) private cottages, and gorgeous views. Contrary to some negative reviews, I thought the food was delicious and the staff gracious and hospitable. I highly recommend KIA Lodge. It was the perfect spot to rest up before the long trip home.

We had a 6-hour lay-over in Kilimanjaro on the way home which (yes, poor planning) we didn't really click to until the day before. It is not the sort of airport you need that long at... So we asked our lodge in the Serengeti where would be best to kill some time and they booked the Kia for us, 

As it happened the driver at the airport didn't have our names, not quite sure what happened but they took us anyway which was nice - about a 5 min drive to the hotel around the back of the airport.

We were able to check in for a day room. Can't remember the rate, maybe 120USD but was worth it for two people to not have to sit in the airport!

The room was nice, very clean, we didn't use it much though as we just immediately got changed and headed for the pool which was great, and hung out there for a few hours on lovely comfy lounges, looking out at what would be, if it wasn't so hazy, a view of the mountain! 

So we ate lunch, swam, looked around and it was a terrific way to end the trip  - the staff were all nice enough and the bar and restaurant looked pretty good but didn't try them out. 

Very happy to recommend and would stay there again for sure for either a day room or overnight if our flight lobbed in late.

Best stop-over hotel for “Travelling Naturalists” near to Arusha-Kilimanjaro-Moshi

Very convenient to Kilimanjaro Airport. Bungalos were very adequate with luggage racks, very hot showers and quiet A.C..
Staff was super intentive, food was adequate and reasonably priced. If lucky, will get a great view of MT. Kilimanjaro from pool deck. Great place for regrouping before or after a safari.

One of the most charming airport hotels we ever went to. Great pool. Small cabins with a nice size bed and a small bathroom. Yes, especially the bathroom is very outdated but I rather have this as a grey boring Garden Inn at JFK. Big problem though is that is no real working internet. We got in all kind of trouble checking in and arranging travel permits (all needed to be done online). We had to go to the airport to get working internet. Staff was great helping us, even offering hotspotting their phones but to no avail. We also got in trouble with paying with CC (due to bad internet connectio)

Great location, nice pool, airco!. However, no internet to speak off.

Kia lodge

I only stayed here for one night in transit back to the US but was struck by how much it felt like I was in the middle of a game reserve, even though I was literally only a couple of minutes from Kilimanjaro International airport. The shuttle was awaiting me on arrival and check in was very quick, with a hot towel and fruit juice. The rooms are well spaced out, individual lodges with big comfortable beds, storage space and nice bathrooms. Breakfast is really good with a variety of hot (eggs cooked to order right in front of you) and cold dishes and, unless you are unlucky with the weather, a very pleasant patio on which to take in the natural surroundings. Although I didn’t have chance to actually use the pool, I did check it out and it’s a great place to soak up the sun. The bar area is well laid out but I’m not sure how many cocktails I’d be buying at $9 a pop. They must be very special. All in all a very nice hotel and great place to relax.
