Green View Home Stay

Really great accommodation, very peaceful place. Sakula and his family been great host, very helpful if you need any help, he helped us arrange some tour in tea factory etc. Breakfast was local and super tasty. Highly recommend this place if you want to switch off for a bit and just relax. 

We were on the way to Nuwara Eliya from Colombo airport and decided to break the journey in Pinnawala. We chose Green View and were rewarded with a first class experience. The place is rustic and full of charm, our hosts were welcoming and the views over the fields delightful. Dinner at short notice was great and breakfast was overwhelming. 
Would recommend to anyone who enjoys nature, good company and good food.


I stayed here to work for the gem business of the homestay's owner and got a great experience. So cosy and so comfortable staying, so delisious food and amazing views of the real village life among jungles around. I like the location - in an hour from Kandy, so a great possibility to stay not far from the important sight but in not touristic area what was my purpose, and enjoy the peaceful quite place while working. Sakula, his parents and all the all stuff are amazing people. Got so nice memories and defenitely recommend!

One of our best stays in Sri Lanka. Our host Sakula couldn’t have done more to make us feel at home. He took us to remote beautiful temples and sites that we would never have found on our own. Greenview Villa is a peaceful place surrounded by rice fields and greenery, a perfect place to relax at, only one hours drive from Kandy. We would love to come back 

A friend and I stayed for 2 days at Sakula’s place. First we thought it is not nice. Because we want to stay in Kandy, however it turned out as the best decision! Amazing stylish air bnb, feels like in the jungle, friendly and lovely staff, quick communication and insider Tipps. 

Highly recommend this place, if you want to explore things around candy and not be in the middle of the sometimes “stressful” citylife. 

You can even get a traditional massage and have food when ever you want :) they order or make it for you. The host Sakula takes care of all your needs and wishes ;)

Very nice situated homestay. Lots of nature and activities. Lovely hosts.
We did a traditional curry-cookingclass, a stressmanagement-/buddhism workshop.
Also a hike through ricefields and rubberplantage and a local biketour.
A spa is available for massage after all these activities ;-)

We stayed for two nights, had an amazing cooking class and did some Beautiful hiking and mountainbiking. The hoppers in the morning were excellent and the kotu in the evening was awesome!

We really enjoyed our 3 nights in Greenview Homestay! Not only is it beautifully located amidst lush green rice paddies, the fact that it is a homestay gives you another way of experiencing Sri Lanka. The family is very kind, staff is from the local community and the breakfast the best we had during our 3 week trip.

We stayed here for 2 days in a family room with 2 bedrooms (AC). Great place and once you are there you will understand why this place is called Green View. Sakula and his staff will make you feel at home. Breakfast is home made and more than you can eat. Dinner ican be orgnized for you and is delivered by one of the local restaurants, simple but very tatstefull. Small pool and there's a spa too (didn't make use of it). If you have the time do visit a nearby village, the local munk/nunk or if possible a school (for a school visit you will need to get permission, Sakula can help you with this) and get a taste of a more simple way of living in Sri Lanka.

We had a very good stay at Green View Homestay. We did a cycle tour, had a cooking workshop, eat a very nice lunch, make a beatyfull walk in the village, visit some locals, rubber, leather, stone, roll cigarettes and visit a temple, get there class about boedhism. Back home with the tuk tuk. And had a great ayurveda massage! Lot of impressions in short time!

Very enjoyable place

August 14, 2019 we (family with 2 teenage daughters) stayed in the Green View Home Stay. What a nice place and nice people. The location has several apartment-like rooms/buildings and a swimming pool (small). Most of the service is hotel-level.
Maybe one suggestion for the owner is to make it possible to serve a dinner to the choice of the guests.
One thing that made the location a bit less attractive is the very busy and noisy road that runs very close to the house (though the house is 10 meters below that road).

I can only agree what earlier reviewers has written. The place is fantastic and extraordinary. Sri Lanka has lots of beach areas which I sure can recommend but despite the 2 hour distance from Negombo Beach this place is still worth a visit. The place has a pool so cooling down ain't a problem. 
What really catched me choosing Green View was the description of the many activities which are presented. Sakula has a menu of activities to choose on. Elephant visit, very private and intimate experience without a bunch of other tourists. Bike tour, village walk, cooking class, and a own spa surrounded in the green garden just to mention some. We visited lots of nice beach areas but none were worth staying at as long as he's place. Sakula is relaxed, open minded and we quickly felt like we were visiting a close friend. You still can choose your own privacy but If you like and choose to socialize then he's the man. I will definitely come back here.
