Hidden gem tucked over a hill just off the main road with a jungle outlook. Lovely rooms, amazing breakfasts, friendly hosts and staff, and a short walk to where the action is. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful setting.  We stayed in 'Pepper Cottage' and felt like we were in the jungle - but in a safe way.  Best massages we had in Sri Lanka.  Also the best breakfast - it was just so beautifully prepared.Location is set back off a main road - which you cannot hear - but this meant it was easy to walk to nearby restaurants.

Hotel owned by a couple with a very beautiful garden and nicely decorated property. A little gem behind the busy main road. Breakfast was good. Not accepting credit cars

Warm welcome and helpful staff. Room was spacious and comfortable. Only stayed one night due to our itinerary but would happily have stayed on. Didn’t eat breakfast in the property as we had an early start whale watching but they provided a small takeaway breakfast and water which was a nice touch. They also moved our packed luggage out of our room while we were out so we didn’t need to worry about managing this early in the am. Close to the beach and in a quiet location off the main, busy road.

Felt very homely, Phil was great to talk to and they were flexible to my schedule and plans, would love to come back again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Spice House. It was set back from the road, so very quiet and peaceful compared to my earlier hotel in the main road. It’s conveniently located <15Min walk or 2 min Tuk Tuk from the main beach and restaurants, shops and other amenities in Mirissa.The grounds and rooms are lovely with many thoughtful touches, breakfast is delicious and everyone from The Spice House interacted was helpful and friendly.

We stayed at the Spice House for 5 days as part of a 3 week tour of Sri Lanka. Its well placed for easy walking to local restaurants, beaches and sights and the owner was able to arrange transport and guides to further afield locations.Breakfast was always more than ample and very tasty. Set well back from the road its very quiet.

This beautiful property is outstanding, you can watch the monkeys playing in the trees whilst having an amazing breakfast or swimming in the pool. Hosts Phil and Wathsala are fantastic and very helpful. The gardens are lovely and well looked after by an incredible friendly team. I would highly recommend this fantastic place to stay to anyone and would definitely stay here again.

Watsala and Phil are the perfect hosts. Felt pampered. Great location for quick access to multiple beaches. Beautiful hotel home. Best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka and we live here!

A Lovely Gem in Miriss

Just like living in a beautiful home.  Food was absolutely delicious and our hosts were very helpful and friendly. Close enough to eateries, beach and spas but tucked away from any hustle and bustle happening out on the road.  We just loved walking back to the property each afternoon - it felt so peaceful. Thanks to Wathsala and Phil for having us!
