Hostal Rocamar

I came into Almunecar late with no reservations, but someone suggested the Rocamar to me as I was frantically searching the internet at an outdoor bar. The owners are a young couple that are very nice. The price was right and after seeing the room I stayed for a week. I had a comfortable bed, a private balcony, a private bath, tv, wifi and everything was spotlessly clean. The hotel is just a three minute walk to the beach and there are restaurants all around, you can walk to everything. There is a grocery store behind the hotel and several more small markets within a couple blocks. If I go back to Almunecar I will stay at the Rocamar again. There is little more a 'luxury' hotel could add but a pool and a view, but with the beach a couple blocks away it isn't worth an extra hundred euros for a pool or a view. The hotel is set back from the road and a couple blocks away from all the late night restaurants and bars by the beach, so it is very quiet at night and I slept comfortably (in July) with only a ceiling fan above me and my balcony doors open. The wifi went out a couple times, but I let the owner know and he had it back up in minutes both times, otherwise it worked great all week. The TV only has a few channels and none are English, but who need to watch TV on vacation? Excellent hotel for a great price.
