Lux Tavira Residence

We arrived at the property and was taken to our villa and was shown around the modern, and well equipped 3 bed villa. The kids went straight into the pool, where they stayed for most of our stay! There is a train located approximately a 5 minute walk away and this takes you to Tavira in 8 minutes where there are a variety of shops, bars, restaurants and where you will find the large supermarkets and this cost us 4.20 euro for 5 people, return. We did get taxi's on several occasions and this was 10 euro. Tavira is set along the river- it is beautiful. Luz de tavira itself has a small supermarket and tavern a 10 minute walk from the residence. We went to 2 local beaches- Praia do Barril (30 minute walk or 8 minute taxi drive) and Tavira island (train to Tavira and then a boat to the island), both were spectacular. We also took the train to Albufeira marina where we took a boat ride and where my husband and son jet skied. We enjoy family holidays away from the hustle and bustle of the usual resort, and we enjoy sitting outside in the evening with a bottle of wine, peaceful surroundings and a deck of cards. We don't feel the need to be 'entertained' every night of our holiday and when we fancied a livelier evening- we went into Tavira where we experienced the real Portugal and cultured our children. Fabulous place, and we will surely be back.
