Hotel staff is accommodating. The room is very spacious but average looking. They offer tours and scuba diving, breakfast is included in the rooftop. Around 20-30mins walk if going to seaside downtown.

Average Stay

We booked the matrimony room via Agoda since it was roomy...good for 5...and cheap. The hotel gave us a regular room which was good for 2. In fact, we almost didn't get a room at all because they claimed they couldn't find our reservation. Pls note that there were 3 ladies and 2 gentlemen at the front desk.
The bathroom door would not open properly as the toilet blocked the opening. The lighting system of the room required a key in the wall slot. Ours kept sliding off! The most helpful of the staff stuck the arm of his glasses into the slot and voila! Lights and air-conditioning at last.
Breakfast was the WORST! The hotel offered only bread, sticky chocolate and instant coffee. Not bad if you think about it BUT the containers were totally unsanitary and would make you lose your appetite!!! Needless to say, we had breakfast somewhere else.

Very basic accomodation

I've only checked in once but I was more than confortable during my stay.

The rooftop restaurant serves very healthy options for meals. Though it can take a while for the food to arrive, I was assured that the ingredients were fresh and made from the beginning.

The restaurant is great for lounging as it has a very chill vibe to it. It is also breezy and stays relatively cool during the day as it sits on the top of the hotel.

The staff are also very accomodating.

Would recommend to family and friends

I explored Dumaguete by foot, all because this hostel is very accessible. Located on crossing area, tricycles are coming and going. Visiting Apo Island was made easier because Harolds Dive Center is just next door and you can even book your tour in the front desk of the hostel. They only offer free light breakfast so if you’re used to eating full breakfast then I suggest you look elsewhere or go to the boulevard to eat. Overall it was good stay. 

Good location

Went to apo with Harold’s, found them so disorganised! At the shop they were rude kinda wanting to put me off going. I’ve dived hundreds of places in the world as a dive master I felt all they wanted was your money, they didn’t care about your safety. I had major issues with my BCD almost ending my dive a number of times. Went with another company the day after, bigger boat, guides who found things and all in all better experience! Stay safe if you dive with them  

Worst scuba boat

We spent 4D3N at the place as lodging for the business trip in the area. Twin bed room was at PHP 1000. I do not recommend comming here IF they are almost fully booked since you'll get the problematic rooms (e.g. faulty airconditioning and plumbing). We had to transfer rooms 2 times and spent a night without aircon before we got a recently vacated good room. The front office staff was good to accept our request to waive the extra bed charge since they transferred us to a single queen-sized bed.

Pro tip: Check the aircon and the bathroom before checking in!

The rooms have no phones so you have to go down the front desk if you need something. 

Note that small insects are a norm since except for the rooms, the corridors are open air.

The hostel is strict about towels; you have to request one at the front desk and leave an ID.

On the food, they offer free light local breakfast - all carbs so you have to order if you want protein and greens with your meal. The menu (which you pay up front at their rooftop resto) is good for its price and quality - affordable and okay. For a local, the serving of the food is good for two people. 

Location wise, this place is best if you want relatively less noise but just a 5 minute walk away from the port and from the middle of Siliman University.

I recommend this place for business travel or if you are just looking for an affordable place to sleep. I wouldn't hang out here the whole day. 


An okay local hostel for the budget concious

Waitress brought canned soft drink, can completely dirty, same as glass. We were only customers that time and waiting time for a meal was about 45min. I went to wash hands...around sink plates with food leftovers, rice, fish and chicken bones. Staff doesnt care about anything been eating their lunch next to us not using any cuttleries, then comming to our table with fingers dirty in rice...come on.
Last year it was one of my favourite places to eat, now never again.

One of the worst restaurant staff ever met

I've stayed there for 8 months in 2011 and 2012 in room 208, when it was okay. I stayed for 2 months in 2019  in room 307, and never again! The staff are friendly and competent, but the management are slave drivers and extremely unfriendly and incompetent. No change is ever supplied to restaurant and reception, so long waiting times, everybody's time constantly wasted! The frozen seafood often thaws and refreezes and most food is simply not edible or outright dangerous. Worst place in Dumaguete now. Avoid!

Disrespectful management

The location is good but we had roaches in our room. Staff were understanding and allowed us to move room. Second room was fine. For the price, would have expected higher levels of cleanliness. 

Location is good, and rooftop area is nice. Breakfast not great.
