Blix Hotel

A great little hotel in Vik no. a small town reachable by ferry and car. It's located in the heart of the city. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. The rooms are very comfortable. Small balcony for nice weather. Quiet with spectacular views all around. Sonyafjord,and small settlements Nessa and arnejfjord are reachable from here and are really, really worth the effort to get to the drive along the field. Spectacular. So very many waterfalls to look at set into a beautiful mountain scene. The hotel makes accessing all of this possible. 

Nice little hotel in Vik- a totally underrated place to spend a night or 2 in the Sognefjord. Blix is very reasonably price, with good basic amenities and clean, comfortable rooms.  Get a room with a balcony facing the fjord and evenings and mornings are magical. Great breakfast included (Norway has thrown down the gauntlet in terms of hotel breakfasts). We had dinner there and that was good as well. Definitely recommend a stay here, though I'm not sure I want people to turn Vik into Flåm ha!

I think the rooms have been renovated since some of the reviews below - our room was perfectly modern. Very clean and all rooms seemed to have a balcony or terrace. 

Rooms were small and sound proofing wasn’t great, but then it wasn’t expensive

not much food choice in Vik area and we stumbled upon the restaurant in the Blix hotel. really well prepared dinner of local halibut, burger, and tender, sweet shrimp salad on bread with very nice aioli. clean and friendly service. blix looks to be a real step up from other local places. the menu however is quite limited (3 main courses) but fish and meat choice. would be tough for vegetarians though.

It is a perfect spot for luch if you are passing by in Vik. The restaurant is run by a very lovely family and the fish we tried was amazing. Don't miss desserts acompanied with homemade marmelades, I loved it!

Hidden gem in a hidden gem

Yummy salmon! - We tried the restaurant

The hotel is split in two separate buildings. One modern, clean, with nice furniture where the reception is and the dining room is. The other building is where the rooms are. It is old, with old furniture and not very comfortable mattresses. The bathroom had an uneven floor resulting with the shower water to spread all around the floor.  The rooms need updating, they are clean but old.

The food at the dining room was very good. The ambiant music as well was perfect, nice sweet piano. We also had breakfast at same place as it was included with the booking of the room. There was plenty of choice with fruits, cereals, meat, eggs and juice. This was a very very good breakfast. It was well appreciated and helped us forget the night in the old room in need of update, but clean.

Will do the job if you need a place to sleep

It is a little deceiving seeing photos of the hotel.  You are not staying in the new building, but in a separate older building next door.

The rooms were decent sized and very clean.  Older furniture but well maintained.  The bathroom is a little odd with the shower not closed off from the room so water goes everywhere.  There were no outlets in the bathroom.  Bed was decently comfortable, but I has the worst pillow I have ever had at a hotel  It was a bag of lumps.

Staff was excellent.  We ate in the restaurant and the food was outstanding.  Very fresh fish and house made desserts.

There aren't many options in Vik for hotels.  This place is clean, safe, well situated, with a very helpful staff.

I was with a friend and we only stayed one night at Blix. The main building is nice and the restaurant serves good meals but the rooms are really ordinary. There's a big contrast between the main building and the buildings where the rooms are located. We could feel the springs in the mattress and the room we had was really old-fashion. In fact, the room was rather like the one you find in a motel than what you find in a proper hotel. We slept well as there was almost no one else there but they need to renovate the rooms a bit to be more up-to-date. Ah and the bathroom was the perfect place to do a mess: the floor of the shower was not inclined enough to allow the water to flow in the hole and the curtain was short so at the end there was water everywhere. This also deserves a new design...

Ordinary Hotel in Ordinary Town

We visited the restaurant in the Blix hotel and had a terrible dining experience.
The staff were friendly but the menu was terrible. There was only one vegetarian choice (a 4 cheese pizza) and the quality of all the food was terrible.
The fish arrived with vegetables that looked as if they had been warmed up in a microwave and were bland and tasteless.
The pizza looked like they were frozen pizzas with additional toppings.
It was our worst dining experience during a 10 day trip across Norway.
