I was on a flight from Ndjamena to Pairs that stopped in Abuja. Was supposed to leave at 2AM and continue on. After sitting on the flight an additional 2 hours they cancelled it. Took several hours to get temporary visas to get out of the airport.

There were over 100 people on this cancelled flight and depending on which van you got into you went to one hotel or another. My van ended up at the Nippon Grand.

Upon arriving (3 vans about 30 total people) at 9:30AM it was clear the front desk had no idea this was happening. However they were very accommodating, luckily had enough rooms and within an hour everyone had a room.

They even kept breakfast open an extra hour to allow people to eat.

The hotel itself is basic but clean. Room I had was nice sized, but bathroom was smelly and window would not shut. AC had a hard time keeping up with the heat. My room was on the pool side of the hotel and at night the DJ at the pool played music really loud. Great if you are there to party, not so if you are trying to sleep.

Really appreciate how the staff helped out in this situation. We were picked up about 24 hrs after arrival and taken back to the airport.

A note - the drivers from the airport to the hotel were driving like maniacs! Had to tell them to slow down. Was literally afraid for my life.

I am still surprised at the package I received.  They gave me a great room for a reasonable price.  The food is not that great, its about the same every morning.  But it is hyper well-located and their is a mall just across. 

The good thing is the Gym Coach... badass guy!!  He can work you out in 30 minutes like you never thought you could.

People go to hotels for various reasons, including to retreat from the bustle of town into a serene, romantic or just quiet location. If this is your objective, consider another hotel. But if you need a centralized location from which to access every service without travelling long distances, this place is okay.

Facing A Major Shopping Mall Directly

Warm and friendly staff, great location, good housekeeping.
I've stayed there severally and even recommended them to friends and colleagues who were happy with my choice.
They are very good value for money.

I ended up at the Nippon Grand when the hotel I booked for a two night meeting in the Abuja City Centre was fully booked.
The hotel was okay for the price of about $75. It's not luxury at all but the room was clean and the bathroom was clean, however the towel in my bathroom should have been retired from active service. My room was big and even had a small living room space with sofas for about 5. The room also had a balcony but which you have to make a special request for the keys to be able to lock the balcony door when you go to bed or go out.
The breakfast area is small (maybe it's big enough for their number of regular guest) and the food variety is very small.
The internet was not so good. I was calling the reception every so often for a new internet code.
Staff were however nice and helpful. The hotel is about 15mins from the city but there is this extremely huge one stop shop - Next Cash and Carry -  opposite it which is a plus for the hotel.
All in all I will stay there again in Abuja when on a budget.

The staff is friendly and very accommodating. It has a nice swimming pool and a bar at the pool. The complimentary breakfast has all the basic stuff. Rooms are big with neat and clean look. Bathrooms are of good standards. Overall a nice hotel to stay in Abuja.
