QT Wellington

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in Wellington. We chose it as it was a nice hotel in a good location with harbour view rooms. A few days before we arrived we had our room changed due to a maintenence issue which was a pain but we were upgraded for the inconvenience and given complementary breakfasts which was good. On arrival we checked in and the room was not what we had asked for which was a real disappointment and had a babys cot made up in the room (we don't have a child) along with the TV on which was a bit creapy. I called the reception and a guy called Callum I think answered the phone and he did a great job of finding a new room that was up to what we had booked and paid for and gave us complimentary drinks at the bar and a bottle of bubbles for the room which was nice. Callum was quick and polite and made sure that the room that we were moved to was up to standard. Its little things like these go a long way. The hotel decor was different but in a good way with the lobby mussem being an interesting addition. The rooms were tidy and king size bed was very comfortable. Staff were great apart from an older bald gentleman who was rude and condescending in the loddy when we were having trouble with our tag for the elevator. The icing on the cake was the final night we decided to have a few quiet drinks in the hotel bar before going out into town, but thanks to the very friendly and knowledgable Rohan on the bar we ended up coming back to the bar after going out for dinner. I normally don't think much of hotel bars but Rohan quickly picked up on our tastes and made some great custom cocktails which we both enjoy alot, it's great to see a bartender who has a passion for making great drinks. Only down side is the city side room we had was great but is close to Wellington City Fire Station, so it can be a little noisy if they are busy responding to calls all night, but I can live with that. Overall the QT made some slip ups but everyone's not perfect and it's all about the rectification and the putting right of issues which the QT Wellington did and that's what counts.
