Fantastic
9 reviewsThis was our first travel to Japan so we were not sure what to expect. We decided to base our trip in Osaka as most of the things we wanted to see where in the kansai region so we wanted a well located place to move around easily. We read good reviews on this place but what we found was even better: 1)The location was perfect: a couple of subway stations just a few blocks far, and the neighborhood provided a good amount of options in terms of grocery stores, local restaurants (best okonomiyaki in town and a good sushi bat), even a small charming bar if you feel like trying sakke as the locals do) 2) We wanted to experience the "local flavor" so we chose this place that has typical japanese beds (over a tatami) and it was very comfortable. The place is very clean and organized, as you need to take your shoes off you get slippers to move around the place and a different pair of sleepers for the toilet (they have one of these toilets with a heated seat) 3) Cost-benefit: this was a great deal considering that it was one of the few places that included the breakfast in the rate, the guesthouse is part of a building that host a cafeteria so that's where breakfast was served, there were some options that included sandwiches and toasts and you always got juice, yoghurt, tea and fruit (we loved the "pizza" toasts), it was great to leave early in the morning ready to explore not to worry about looking for a place to eat something. They have complimentary tea and cookies, and there's a fridge available in case you need to store food. There's also a laundry area that can be used by a small amount. 4) Chelsea, is the best host you can ask for, she speaks fluent English (which is not very common in the area) and she went above and beyond to help us getting what we needed: from providing tips & recommendations on places to visit and local events, to helping us getting a sushi lesson, learning how to prepare matcha and even some Ikebana, she made sure we could check every item of our large list. You can tell that Chelsea is a people's person and it was great to be taken care with such attention, we will definitely plan to come back and stay here again! (We visited other cities in Japan but this was by far our favorite place, we believe Chelsea has a lot to do with that)
